Back home in Nigeria when I enter public transport and I am the only one, fear go grip me and I will be praying that the driver picks someone to be sure I am not in a one chance.
Other times, I am pitying the driver and I will be praying that he picks someone on the road so that his fuel money will not be a waste...🤣🤣🤣
And even pray that the driver doesn't change his mind and ask me to come down as he can't continue the journey with only one passenger.

But here in Canada, I no dey reason any of these things cos there's no one chance, and whether the driver sees passengers or not, he must drive his route from Start to finish..so even if I enter bus and I'm the only one, I am not bothered cos I will get to my destination without any issues..

I think I became a feminist from a young age but didn't know what exactly it was but any injustice, discrimination against my gender always pained me and I would speak up and ask questions..

I remember asking my mom why my cousin who was same age with me was forced to marry a man older than her father all because she got pregnant as a teenager? I was furious and even wanted her to run away but to where na?

I kept asking my mom why? Isn't this too much? The man in question is a drunk and irresponsible but you guys are pushing a child who's not even 18 yet to marry while the boy who forced himself on her was walking free without any consequences..

That marriage eventually kpaid her and I was so upset during her burial as her father and other family members who pushed her into that marriage were forming that they mourning..I told my mom that I will never forgive them for what they did to my cousin..I eventually forgave my mom because she later regretted accepting for the man to marry my cousin.

But my uncle..hmmm my uncle!! It just occurred to me that the distance between us was caused by that exact action..

My Igbo people, your child getting pregnant out of wedlock is not the end of the world and they shouldn't be forced to marry old efulefu men in their 50s. These girls shouldn't be made sacrificial lambs all because you don't want to bring shame to your family..
