Thank you for your patience as we paused after our first edition.

We are excited for an upcoming feature about The Flaxmobile Project, farmers and craftspeople cultivating fibre flax as an alternative to fossil fuels in an effort to close material security gaps in Mi'kma'ki.

The Flaxmobile project recently held an exhibition at Ross Creek Centre for the Arts.

"Johnson’s installation reimagines this symbol of maternal creation with language, symbols, and song that are rooted in Mi'kmaq culture, and the source material is transformed by this contact. If reconciliation is to be possible, this receptive posture, openness to truths that change society, must be embraced."

Writer, Kirstie McCallum reflects on Ursula Johnson's installation, Emmitukwemk: The Visit , which exhibited last fall at The Blue Building Gallery in Kjipuktuk (Halifax).
Read Kistie's article, "Behind the Curtain, before the Velvet Rope," in the summer edition of Meet Us Halfway.

On Epekwitk (PEI), we don't just talk about the precariousness of being an artist; we talk about the precarity of art in general....

This edition is an iniation in what we hope will develop into a large, diverse, and self-sustaining pool of local writers on art and culture.
