“She never stopped fighting—for her country or for equality.”⚓🎹

On July 31, 1942, the Women’s Royal Canadian Naval Service was officially established. Known as the “Wrens,” these trailblazing women took on vital roles in naval communications, intelligence, and logistics during the Second World War.

Doris Hope served as a wireless telegraphist, intercepting German U-Boat transmissions. Her efforts contributed to the Allied success in cracking the Enigma code, earning her the Bletchley Park badge, a rare honour.

In this portrait, artist Elaine Goble captures Doris’s legacy as both a wartime operator and lifelong advocate for women’s rights in the military.
