Before the pandemic I had the huge honor of making a record with Brenda Earle Stokes at the Sarnia library, utilizing their gorgeous Stienway Grand Piano. As a Sarnia Native, she had played it growing up at recitals.

One of the proudest moments in my recording career is her getting a review in Downbeat magazine, the oldest and most prestigious Jazz magazine in America.

It's a real special thing to me that she's playing Maud's with my friend Al Wiess.

I never go anywhere, and I'll be there! I hope you're there too. She's an incredible talent!

Nic Swales Music at The ISO Bar last night.

It's been many years since I've seen such a great solo performance. Nic's big catalog of songs lends itself well to a guy and a guitar presentation.

The ISO bar crowd was attentive, the staff were friendly. It's a real jewel of Downtown. I can't wait to take in another show there.

"Will" 36x48" Acrylic on Canvas

This piece is available for purchase as of July 1st. $500 obo. I'm posting the entire process in the comments.

I consider this a warm-up for a series of Abstract Expressionism pieces I plan on doing this summer/fall. So I'm really looking to just recover the expense of the materials.

"Will" is about this idea that we may not have free will, the we are simply the result of prior causes, the genes we were born with, our location in the world, our prior experiences, the food we've consumed.

It's an idea where maybe we shouldn't take our wins in life so seriously, to not get prideful. Nor to take our failures as seriously either. Radical compassion and forgiveness.

I took a year off working on the painting due to the emotional difficulty. But here it is. I’m trying to think of a good home for it and I will be having affordable prints made for anyone interested. I’ll dig into pricing for it, but Paul Sorensen took such an amazing capture of it I just have to share right now.
