When the name Shroomfest is mentioned, it tends to make people smile, not because it is a fundraiser with an unusual name, but because it annually raises unusually large amounts of money to help support local activities. In this, its seventeenth year, Shroomfest Inc, a registered non-profit charity has done it again.

When people work together to build a stronger community, good things happen! Shroomfest, now having just completed its 17 year, is proof of that. Photo of the 2023 Event Courtesy of George Darouze METCALFE – When the name Shroomfest is mentioned, it tends to make people smile, not because it is...

Nearly every seat was filled on a Tuesday morning for a Cornwall and SD&G employer seminar which focused on attracting and retaining employees.

Amy Porteous (Maxville Manor), Joy Cella (Cornwall Community Hospital), and Shelly Harding (Olymel) explained their unique approach to helping temporary workers tackle the difficult process of obtaining housing, and in doing so perhaps convince them that this might be the place they want to call hom...

The South Mountain Agricultural Hall was the site of the 2024 Eastern Sheep Expo on Sat., April 13, and on a cold, gray day it was a pleasant and informative way to spend a few hours learning about Ontario’s Sheep industry and talking to some of the people who help it to grow.

Emily Rätsep, from the Animal Health Lab in Kemptville spoke about why sheep sometimes die. Her “to the point” approach in discussing the topic included much valuable information on what is an important, and expensive outcome for anyone in the sheep industry. Tinkess Photo By Terry TinkessAgriN...

Whether you’ve seen the movie “Field of Dreams” or not, you are probably familiar with the phrase “If you build it, they will come.” That was certainly the case at Acredale Farms in Kars, Ontario on Sat., April 20, where their open house had cars parked on both sides of the road out front for about a half-kilometre in both directions.

Looking across the open fields toward Acredale Farms’ new barn you can’t tell how much hard work went into rebuilding, but it certainly looks like it was worth it. Tinkess Photo By Terry TinkessAgriNews Staff Writer KARS – Whether you’ve seen the movie “Field of Dreams” or not, you are p...
