Any of you who've read The Circle of St. George and enjoyed the book I could really use some reviews over at amazon.com ... you're also completely free to go there and post how much it sucked, but you'll understand if I don't encourage that.

As always, thanks for your interest in what I do. It looks like we'll have a Vancouver reading at Pulp Fiction in April/May. More info when it firms up.

"when it firms up" ... hmmm. That's just asking for it

Nothing in his life prepared Charlie Walker for meeting King Arthur and Merlin, King Oberon and Puck, or to find himself riding withthe Wild Hunt and fighting a cohort of bloodthirsty Valkyries attacking GI's on the beaches of France! Compared to that, a naked Winston Churchill barely rates menti...

In September, I said - enticingly, provocatively, tantalizingly, and, as it turns out, utterly wrong - "soon come."

It did not, as many of you have noticed and even enquired. Where is it, you asked.

I raised an eyebrow and whispered, "Soooooooooon."

And now here it is. Mostly.

My fourth book and first novel, The Circle of St. George, ebook only, is already on sale at AMAZON, at the low low introductory price of $2.99

Brief Commercial Message follows.

Within the week the paperback will follow once some last production tweaks are attended to. It will also be shockingly affordable.

I'd be remiss if I didn't take the moment to thanks all of you who've been so supportive and encouraging, and specifically my mentors and great friends Ron Riter, Les Wiseman, John Lekich, Charles Campbell, Max Wyman and Michael Turner. For all-around inspiration and just generally being a pal, William Gibson and Ms. Liz Hand, who can both be honestly described as lovely and talented.

Without you all, I'd be forced to make an honest living. Which I was required to do on occasion and discovered it did not fu***ng appeal to me one bit.

You have my undying gratitude.

So - after much research and advice from those in the biz, an looking at what Tor and other publishers get versus what they give authors, I'm going to go ahead and self-publish.

i should already have learned this lesson from my time the music business and dealings with labels but no, I had to learn it again.

It just makes so much more sense from both a creative and business standpoint. Just taxes alone make it worthwhile not to mention - just as with records and labels - you make more selling 500 copies than you do 5,000 ... and that's with selling the books at less than half what a publishing house would market them at.

With that said, expect me to be bothering you all a lot more in the near future. I'm absolutely awful at doing self-promotion but then again, so are all the publishers I've investigated. I was gobsmacked to find friends of mine - acclaimed authors with shelves full of Very Impressive Awards were getting almost zero promo push by their publishers.

Well s**t - I can do that .... and I won't charge myself anything for the service.

Talk soon -
