Let’s Get Social

We just wrapped up two very different trips for two very different reasons.

We have a client whose home base is international, but a few hours from us every quarter for work. We made a point of driving out to see her while she was in the region, before she flew back home.

Then we were in the Okanagan with a new client, to meet them in person, feel their space and truly get to know them.

Every time we do this I get reminded of the same thing. The human connection changes everything.

Being in someone’s actual space, feeling their energy, watching how they show up with their own team when no one is performing for a camera.

That is where we start to understand a person, not just their brand.

You have heard me talk about THE SHIFT a couple posts back. That is the whole point of what we do here, helping founders show up online in a way that actually works, because I know it works. I want to take that everywhere the universe will let us, local or not.

Call me delusional, but I think every founder deserves that kind of attention, not just the ones who happen to live close to us. We do not have it all figured out yet for how that works when someone is not nearby.

If you know me, you know that has never stopped me before.

Wherever the universe takes us, we’re going.

The cost of staying stagnant outweighs the cost of going for it.

Being your own boss, running your own business constantly requires us to expand our capacity.

That looks different for everyone, but if there’s one piece of advice I’d give you is to take the next step, forward.

Even if you try and you fail the first time, do as Pink sings: You gotta get up and try, try, try.

Your future self will thank you.

One of the fastest ways to kill good content?

Making someone else's content your benchmark.

I see it all the time. A business owner saves a competitor's Reel, studies their captions, copies their hooks, changes a few words, and wonders why it doesn't land.

Because it was never meant to.

The people you're trying to reach aren't looking for another version of someone they already follow. They're looking for someone they can connect with. Someone they trust. Someone who sounds like themselves, not like everyone else.

The irony is that the more time you spend watching what everyone else is doing, the less time you spend figuring out what you actually want to say.

That's where your best content comes from.

Not trends.
Not templates.
Not trying to outdo the business down the street.

Your competitors aren't your competition.

Your biggest competition is the version of your business that's too busy looking sideways to move forward.

Say the thing only you can say.

That's the content people remember.

This past season taught me something I already knew but needed to feel again.

Running a business through change is expensive in ways that have nothing to do with money. It takes energy you did not plan to spend. Capacity you are having to find in real time. (Shout out to capacity/nervous system support team and .c.harris). Decisions that are heavy and quiet and invisible to everyone outside the room.

And that is exactly where they should stay.

Because the people trusting me with their brands, their visibility, and their growth do not need to know what is happening behind the curtain. They need to know the standard has not moved. That someone is still paying attention. That the care is still there.

And it is. It really is.

The trust our clients place in us is not something I take lightly. EVER. It is the thing that makes me show up even when showing up is hard. It is the thing that makes the standard non negotiable regardless of what season we are in.

They chose us. That means something. And we will always show up like it does.
Things can be shifting in the background while the commitment stays exactly the same.

Being an Agency Owner means you never really clock out.

You just care from a different location.

I am doing laundry and thinking about whether that caption we posted today actually landed the way it was meant to. I am doing daycare drop off wondering if the strategy we built three months ago still reflects where that client is heading now. I am up at 6am and the first thing that crosses my mind is a content angle I want to pitch before the week starts.

This is not a complaint. It is just what happens when you genuinely care about the people you work with.

Running an agency means I feel that multiplied across every client we have. And what I have noticed is that somewhere between the strategy sessions and the content shoots and the approval rounds something else happens quietly. The relationship deepens. The client stops feeling like a client. You start knowing their business the way they know it. You celebrate their wins like they are yours because honestly they kind of are.

That is the part nobody talks about when they talk about social media management. Not the posts. The people behind them.

Our monthly clients are not accounts on a roster. They are founders we genuinely show up for. And that does not stop when the laptop closes.

We have heard some version of this from almost every founder who has come to work with us.

I thought if I just showed up consistently the right people would find me.

And it makes sense. That is what we were all told. More content. More visibility. Just keep going.

But here is what nobody said clearly. Content is only as effective as the strategy behind it. Your ideal clients are probably not in your audience yet. They have not found you. And unclear messaging means more posting just amplifies the confusion.

Trust does not come from consistency alone. It comes from someone landing on your page and immediately thinking, this is exactly who I have been looking for.

Getting there is more than a content calendar. It is getting honest about what you are actually saying and who needs to hear it.

That is where we start. Every time.

That’s why our job isn’t just creating content. It’s helping businesses uncover the beliefs that are keeping them from connecting with the people they’re actually trying to reach.

What assumption did you have about social media before you started your business?

We’d love to hear it. 🖤

I have been sitting on this one for a while.

You have probably noticed us talking about THE SHIFT lately. I have not fully explained it until now.

Not because I was not sure how to say it. Because I know some people are not going to love it. But... I am saying it anyway.

We are in an industry that profits from telling founders they need more. More visibility. More content. More strategy. More investment. And then more again when the first round did not work. Constantly raising the bar of what success means.

But the founders I watch actually build something, the ones with real clients, real relationships, and real staying power, are almost never the ones doing the most. They are the ones who got clear, got consistent, and got honest. With themselves and with their audience.

The noisiest accounts and the most successful businesses are rarely the same ones. Say that louder for the people in the back.

Real human connection. On and off line. THE SHIFT is not a trend. It is a return to what actually works. And some people will not like it. But the right ones will. 😉

Most people think they have a content problem, but they don’t. Instead, it’s a clarity problem.

The Blueprint isn’t a brainstorming session where we throw around content ideas and hope something sticks. It’s where we figure out who you are, who you’re actually speaking to, and how to communicate that consistently.

That’s why clients leave with more than notes. They leave with a strategy they can return to again and again, rather than starting from scratch every month.

In one session, you leave with one document that eliminates guesswork and brings clarity.

We spend so much time watching our analytics that we forget to pay attention to what’s happening outside of them. Some of the strongest signs your content strategy is working will never show up on your Instagram insights.

Like the client who says, “I’ve been following you for months.” Or the discovery call where someone references a post you completely forgot you shared.

And that’s what good content does: it builds trust long before someone is ready to commit.

Before you decide your strategy isn’t working, ask yourself:

Are people recognizing your brand?
Are they repeating your messaging?
Are they arriving already trusting you?

These are indicators that point to marketing that actually is growing your business.

We’re curious: what else would you add? Drop it in the comments.
