Chilliwack’s most reliable news source providing quality journalism across both print and digital platforms. History:
The Chilliwack Progress is British Columbia's oldest community newspaper published continuously with the same name in the same community. From its first issue in April, 1891, four pages of now-yellowing newsprint that rolled off W.T. Jackman's small press that he'd set up above a f
arm implement shop on Main Street, the Progress is currently published once a week. And while the Progress has seen numerous owners over the years, it has never lost sight of Jackman's original vision for his new publication, that if you serve your community well, it will do well by you. A member of Black Press Media since January, 1997, the Progress continues to serve and grow with its community through its commitment to organizations like Rotary and the Business Improvement Association. Chilliwack is a fast-growing community of more than 90,000 people in the agricultural heart of the Fraser Valley, hugging the swift waters of the Chilliwack River and set against the majestic backdrop of the Cascade Mountain Range.
