The Sunshine Gospel Mission near Eckville, Alberta is a very popular destination for abandoned places aficionados in the area. According to the sign, it was established in 1946. A different bit of history. This is Ings Mine. Dr. George Ings was a medical doctor and amateur geologist who spent a lot of time on horseback prospecting for coal.

Between 1900-1914, Dr. Ings extracted about 1000 tonnes of coal from this mine and transported it to an oil well at the location of today's Bragg Creek Provincial Park. The coal was used to help power the well.

And, before you ask, my claustrophobia prevented me from going any further in!
