📍Twillingate (aka the “iceberg capital of the world”) in Newfoundland is one of the best places to see 10,000 year old icebergs drifting down from Greenland glaciers to the iceberg alley of Newfoundland every year.

📌 Save this unique iceberg viewing experience for your Newfoundland trip! Read details & viewing tips below👇

You’re looking at icebergs that drift along the same path as the one that sank the Titanic 🚢👀

🗓️ Newfoundland iceberg season: May to the end of June (sometimes earlier or later), check the tourism pages before planning your visit.

✨ Tips to view by self: We were lucky to spot many icebergs just off the road. Check with the locals when you visit or use icebergfinder.com to track their exact location. But we highly recommend going on boat tours since you get an amazing up close view.

See them by land or boat: Walk along the cliffs (like Long Point lighthouse) or hop on guided boat tours for up close views.

Local tips:
👉 Pack layers because iceberg boat tours can be chilly and windy.
👉 Try iceberg beer or iceberg water tastings at local spots 😋

✨ We’ll be sharing some posts with useful tips to plan this trip during iceberg season in our Newfoundland series, so follow us along!

‼️ Please be mindful of nearby homes and private property when viewing icebergs from the shore.

And no, it’s not Gros Morne! ☺️

Follow .mapletales if you want to know more unique places to visit in Atlantic Canada 🇨🇦🦞

So we were driving from Gros Morne to Port aux Basques to catch our ferry back to Nova Scotia, and these were the views along the drive from Stephenville to Port aux Basques at sunset 😍

📍The area where this drive stretches through is called Codroy Valley. While we had crossed it twice before in the opposite direction (Port aux Basques to Gros Morne) during late morning, most of the time it was covered in fog. This was the first time we saw it fully clear and at sunset, and the views were absolutely stunning.

It even made Gros Morne the second most favourite drive in Atlantic Canada for us 🙃

We’ve driven the Cabot Trail in CB, Fundy Coast, Restigouche, Acadian Peninsula in NB, and the Irish Loop in NL, but Codroy Valley truly stood out for us (it could be because of the lighting, but who cares 😅)

Have you driven this beautiful stretch in Newfoundland? 😍 Let us know your thoughts in the comments!

You might drive right past this waterfall in Newfoundland without even realizing it exists!

This is Steady Brook Falls in Corner Brook and we almost skipped it, so glad we didn’t. The waterfall looked so impressive after all the rain this season. The trail to get to the falls is short (hardly 300 m) but quite steep.

This also became one of our favourite waterfalls in Atlantic Canada after Dickson Falls and Egypt Falls.

➡️ You can also go zip lining here during the summer months.

📌 Save this quick stop for your Newfoundland trip!
