This week in SD&G… we’ve got a little bit of everything!

Spring is definitely in the air with the Williamsburg Country Market starting back up 🌱 — which means fresh finds, local goodies, and a good excuse for a weekend drive.

We’re also taking a trip down memory lane with a Throwback feature on Quinn's Inn: Pub, Restaurant & Banquet (this one might spark a few memories 👀).

🎶 Live music more your thing? The Plowboys are bringing the country vibes — boots optional, good time guaranteed.

🍿 Big shoutout to The Happy Popcorn Co. for a fundraiser that’s as delicious as it is feel-good ❤️

🏡 On the real estate side, Tanya Flaro: Remax Affiliates Marquis Real Estate Brokerage is one you’ll want to check out — seriously, the views… 😍

💼 And if you (or someone you know) is job hunting, Emard Emard Bros Lumber and Menard & Robertson both have openings this week!

As always — it’s all in this week’s SDG Scoop 📰

🌱 Cornwall Seedy Saturday | Samedi des semences Cornwall is back at the Benson Centre — perfect if you’re already dreaming about spring gardens.

🐭 Feeling adventurous? The Odd Stop is hosting a Mouse Taxidermy Class (yes… really). Definitely one of the more unique workshops we’ve seen lately.

🎸 Live music lovers have options this week:
• Dad Rock Night at Carrot Carrots N DatesCornwall
• Dimo James performing at Lost Villages Brewery

🐶 We’re also featuring some very cute pups coming up for adoption through Chance's Rescue — if you’ve been thinking about adding a furry friend to the family, this might be your sign.

❤️ And some feel-good local news: Christopher Leclair is organizing a community food drive to help those in need.

💼 Plus, local job opportunities this week from Emard Emard Bros Lumber and Dubé Dube Law.

We asked… you answered… and 91% of you said YES to more travel content 👀🌎

So we did it.

Introducing Neighbourhoods Beyond our brand-new travel section inspired entirely by your feedback. We’re kicking things off with The Eastern Townships (only a few hours away and already on our summer radar).

This is why we love this community - you shape The Scoop!

Here’s what else we featured last week:

📚 Local Author Showcase at Bubba & Bugs Coffee Bar
A cozy evening of books, wine, live music and local storytelling. Honestly, Cornwall literary nights are underrated.

🎸 Aerosmith Tribute at the Port Theatre
Dream On was definitely belted out by more than a few locals. The Port Theatre continues to bring the fun.

🚒🐶 South Glengarry Fire Services
Now equipped with pet oxygen masks thanks to a generous donation. Because our four-legged family members matter too. This one warmed our hearts.

🏡 Retro River Retreat in South Glengarry Kim Lauzon- Century 21 Cornwall
Natural wood, wallpaper vibes, riverfront views — we’re kind of loving the throwback aesthetic.

⚖️ Jobs at Emard Bros Lumber & Dube Law
If you (or someone you know) are looking for a new opportunity locally, they’re hiring!

From community wins to new adventures beyond SD&G, there’s so much good happening right here.

Okay we’re slightly late getting this out because we are currently glued to a nail-biting gold medal game… GO CANADA 🇨🇦🏒🔥

But we had to jump on quickly and highlight some of the fun happening around SD&G 👇

🎮 Mario Kart Tournament at Lost Villages Brewery
Nothing says community bonding like blue shells and friendly trash talk. Teams of 2, bragging rights on the line, and pints in hand.

🕺 70s/80s/90s Retro Party at The North Mulligan
Denim. Big hair. Throwback anthems. If you’ve been waiting for an excuse to dance like it’s 1999… this is it.

🎶 Live Music at Jet Set Pub
Nothing beats local live music on a Friday night. Good tunes, good people, and the perfect excuse to stay out just a little longer.

🦙 The Alpaca Crew at The heart of the willow
Still not over this one. Cozy alpaca socks, hats, insoles — right here in our backyard. And yes, the alpacas are just as majestic as they look.

🏢 And for the nostalgia lovers…
The old Carl’s Smoke Shop building on Pitt Street is officially up for sale through Valery Real Estate Inc.. A true downtown throwback with serious history.

Between hockey heartbreaks (or victories 🤞), retro dance floors, local brews, alpacas, and downtown nostalgia… SD&G never disappoints.

Now back to yelling at the TV. 🇨🇦🏒

🚨 Community Alert - Please Read & Share 🚨

We’ve been informed by one of our readers that someone wearing a red vest with “Special Olympics” on it has been going door to door in Cornwall and SDG is asking for donations.

Please note - this is NOT authorized by Special Olympics Cornwall-Alexandria. The organization would never solicit funds door to door.

Police have been notified and are on the lookout. As we get into the giving season, it’s a good reminder to always double-check that any fundraiser is legitimate before donating.

We just wanted to get the word out. Let’s look out for one another and keep our community safe and informed!
