These necessary business changes will help lead Scentsy to a brighter, more sustainable future
In our ongoing commitment to offer top-quality products, competitive Consultant compensation and valuable incentives, we’ve reviewed our long-term success as a growing and sustainable company — which sometimes means making tough but necessary decisions.
For years, Scentsy has significantly subsidized international markets to ensure fairness, competitiveness and opportunity for all Consultants, even when market conditions and shipping logistics made it difficult. And while we’ve subsidized countries at different levels depending on the region, continuing to absorb international shipping and operational costs at current levels is no longer sustainable without putting the entire business at risk.
Additionally, varying business rules, shipping tiers and pricing structures across markets make Scentsy more complicated and less efficient. So, we’re taking steps to simplify wherever possible and create more consistent, global standards.
Effective Sept. 1, we’re increasing the PEG rate we use to determine product pricing in your market. This adjustment reflects the realities of the current environment and is essential to help position Scentsy for a strong return to growth.
These kinds of changes aren’t new; we’ve made similar decisions — limiting product and/or program offerings in select markets — in the past when circumstances required it. While they may feel difficult, we’re confident they’re the right steps to protect what makes Scentsy special and to ensure we remain an industry leader for years to come.
Here’s what’s behind the Sept. 1 changes:
Global costs continue to rise. International trade and shipping expenses have been steadily cutting into our margins, limiting our growth opportunities and ability to fully support all Scentsy markets. Absorbing these costs long-term simply isn’t sustainable.
Profit powers opportunity. Profits don’t just keep the lights on, they’re what allow us to offer you exciting incentives, innovative product launches and competitive compensation.
Your earning potential grows, too. When product prices increase, so do your commissions. You’ll earn more per sale, which is especially important to drive growing demand in our international markets.
Future growth depends on today’s actions. With our rebranding efforts and new product categories, we need to make sure the foundation — our pricing and business structure — is built to support what’s next.
As a result, and effective Sept. 1, the PEG rate is changing from 1.32 to 1.45 in Canada, resulting in a roughly 8% to 12% increase in almost all Scentsy product prices. For example:
