“The Tree Remains”, set against the picturesque Muskoka region of Ontario, is the second film we created for

Featuring OPP Officer James Reading, this film uses his metaphor of a fallen tree that continues to grow despite being submerged in mud and water. Officer Reading draws a powerful parallel between this natural resilience and the journey of navigating PTSD and occupational trauma, positioning the pin as a symbol of the strength required to “continue growing.” After experiencing such deep and profound medicine in his own life, he knew he couldn’t keep it to himself and is working hard to bring the medicine of the pin to his community and beyond.

One of the films we were honoured to create for is titled, “A Bridge Across”.

This film documents the experience of Sudbury’s John McIntyre, who found himself facing an agitated, armed stranger who upon seeing the moose hide pin, a universal symbol of non-violence, immediately shifted his demeanour, allowing for a peaceful resolution. John’s witnessing of the events that day ignited a journey of personal growth that has stretched across all aspects of his life.

Last summer, we travelled through Ontario with to capture the impact that their efforts have had on people in their everyday lives.

We’ve created two films, “The Tree Remains” and “A Bridge Across”, that share the stories of two men whose lives were changed after encountering the moose hide pin at critical moments in their journeys.

These films reveal deeply personal reflections on responsibility, healing, and the courage it takes to walk a different path. Together, their stories explore how something as simple as a piece of moose hide can open the door to transformation and accountability.

If you happen to be in Toronto this weekend, you can see the films at their premier screening event, “The Power of the Pin”, at The Hot Docs Cinema.
