This morning this event is happening on the grounds where St. Michael's Indian Residential School once stood. A gathering time to share stories and heal with music as we all know that music is the medicine. It should be a great day as far as I can see! I am looking forward to seeing many community members and relatives. Perhaps I may see old friends from back in the day. However it unfolds I will be grateful for everything. 10am start for the event. 530 start for me.

Last month I had the opportunity to work with the legend Darrell Boots McCallum and record a bumch of songs. Today I sat and mixed the one full band song we did and I'm proud and happy the way it came out.

It is an honor song sung in cree and written by Boots. We kept it simple and straightforward with drums, bass, acoustic and some electric guitars as rhythm and lead (which Mykal Gambull Music got to play) along with vocals and harmony. I just listened to the mix in the F150 Lariat and it is balanced well. Every instrument is heard and sits good.

I've got a lot of respect for Darrell and I've learned that he as a teacher has a lot of knowledge about history and culture; that's always great to learn about. Honored that he's given me a chance to work with him on this project and another as well in addition to slinging guitar or doing live sound production for him and his band REZ BOYZ.
