In the beginning was the Word,
and the Word was with God,
and the Word was God.
He was in the beginning with God.
All things came to be through him,
and without him nothing came to be.
What came to be through him was life,
and this life was the light of the human race;
the light shines in the darkness,
and the darkness has not overcome it.
A man named John was sent from God.
He came for testimony, to testify to the light,
so that all might believe through him.
He was not the light,
but came to testify to the light.
The true light, which enlightens everyone, was coming into the world.
He was in the world,
and the world came to be through him,
but the world did not know him.
He came to what was his own,
but his own people did not accept him.

But to those who did accept him
he gave power to become children of God,
to those who believe in his name,
who were born not by natural generation
nor by human choice nor by a man’s decision
but of God.
And the Word became flesh
and made his dwelling among us,
and we saw his glory,
the glory as of the Father’s only Son,
full of grace and truth.
John testified to him and cried out, saying,
“This was he of whom I said,
‘The one who is coming after me ranks ahead of me
because he existed before me.’”
From his fullness we have all received,
grace in place of grace,
because while the law was given through Moses,
grace and truth came through Jesus Christ.
No one has ever seen God.
The only Son, God, who is at the Father’s side,
has revealed him. “Blessed are you among women,
and blessed is the fruit of your womb.
And how does this happen to me,
that the mother of my Lord should come to me?
For at the moment the sound of your greeting reached my ears,
the infant in my womb leaped for joy.
Blessed are you who believed
that what was spoken to you by the Lord
would be fulfilled.” Luke 1:41-45 Dufferin-Peel CDSBSalesians of Don BoscoRadio Maria CanadaCatholic School Chaplains of OntarioUniversity of St. Michael's CollegeToronto Catholic District School BoardUTM Catholic Students' ClubSalt + Light MediaRoman Catholic Diocese of HamiltonToronto Met Catholic Students AssociationSt. Augustine's Seminary of TorontoCristo Rei Parish MississaugaArchdiocese of TorontoCatholic Christian OutreachDiocese of Hamilton Office of Youth MinistryRadio Maria World FamilySara Elizabeth CentreArchdiocese of Ottawa-Cornwall/L'archidiocèse d'Ottawa-Cornwall

This week, we enter the 2nd week of Advent. The theme for this week is Peace in anticipation of the arrival of the Price of Peace, Jesus Christ, as described in the gospel of Matthew;

“Behold, I am sending my messenger ahead of you; he will prepare your way.
A voice of one crying out in the desert:
“Prepare the way of the Lord,
make straight his paths.”

During this season of Advent, may we remain alert and awake and make clear our hearts and minds to make room and journey towards God made visible among us in the Christ Child on Christmas Day.

Hep us O gracious God, to prepare for your arrival, reviewing daily the things that we need to make straight in our lives in order to better fulfill your will for us. Make us clean of heart and mind through the graces you provides us, most especially in the sacrament of reconciliation. Help us to not be afraid to approach you in both humility and struggle to become true reflections of your shing light and truth for all people to observe and follow.
