AACC Issues New Guidance on Ethical Recruitment and Student Aid Transparencyโ And Hereโs Why This Matters to Us at ANJ Education Consulting
Recently, the Alberta Association of Career Colleges (AACC) released an important statement addressing the rise of misleading recruitment practices happening across Alberta and other provinces. Many studentsโespecially newcomersโhave been given false promises, pressured into programs, or misled about student aid, grants, and repayment obligations.

This is exactly the kind of behaviour we have always stood against.
And we want to take this moment to reaffirm who we are and why our students continue to trust us:
We advocate for ethical, transparent, and student-centered practices. We strictly align with Alberta Student Aid policy, Private Vocational Training Act and Regulation and the new Private Vocational Training Amendment Act, in direction of Bill 3. Every application is treated with care, accuracy, and respect.
When it comes to student loans and grants, Instead, we teach students how the system works, guide them to official resources, and help them understand the loan application processโfrom admission to graduation and eventually job placement.

We stay informed, study the policies carefully, and ensure theyโre reflected in every assistance we provide.
Our students know this well because we make the effort to understand and follow provincial standards, providing information that is accurate and reliableโnot just whatโs easy or convenient.
We take the time to understand each student's needs.
We donโt push programs.
We donโt pressure enrolments.
We talk to students until we understand their goals, background, and preferences, so we can recommend programs and colleges responsibly.
We do NOT hire outside marketers or third-party agents.
This is intentional. Misrepresentation often comes from people who donโt understand the rules, or who are motivated purely by commissions.
Weโve chosen not to follow that pathโand thatโs exactly why we continue to stand strong after years of operation, even as regulations evolve.

1. Loans vs. Grants
We always explain the breakdown between loans and grants, including repayment responsibilities. No โguaranteed grants,โ no โfree money,โ no false expectations.
2. We guide students to official resources, including:
ALIS for researching programs
NSLSC and Alberta MyLoans for tracking and repaying student loans
ยป Alberta Student Aidโs Funding Guide:

3. No guaranteed amounts โ ever.
Funding is always subject to review, and the only accurate source is Alberta Student Aid itself. Our job is to help students understand the process, not make promises we cannot control.
Transparency.
Accountability.
Integrity.
And a genuine desire to protect students from misinformation and pressure-based recruitment.
We fully support the AACCโs stance and will continue to uphold the highest standards in every application we handle..
