responded to a fire on the fourth floor of a building at Ridgewood Gardens in Edmonton’s Weinlos neighbourhood. Th ere have been several fires in this complex many times over the last few years.

There is never intent to minimize, or make light of anybody's loss or trauma. We make a concerted effort to avoid recording or photographing anyone other than firefighters and ensure that the identities of those affected at every event are protected.

Today's Desrochers Fire deemed 'suspicious' by Police. Waking up this morning, Global News mentioned some of the units were under construction and that may have been where the fire started. Immediately, I couldn't help but wonder if this fire is related to other intentionally set fires that have occurred in South Edmonton in the recent past.

There is some discrepancy in the number of impacted residents between media outlets (70-100) but regardless of the number, we feel for everyone impacted by this fire and hope everyone is safe.

After launching an investigation, Edmonton police say they are treating the fire as suspicious and are seeking dashcam or security footage.
