Farewells, First Loves, and Monsters...what else do you need on a Sunday?

🎷Fuse ‘N Flow at 11AM MST
This is the final episode of Fuse 'n Flow before the old jazz DJ heads out to pasture. This 2-hour finale features some of what I consider to be Desert Island tracks, so you can expect a lot of Bop with a smattering of Blues, Soul, and a few strains of Hop Hip. Featured artists include Etta James, Taj Mahal, Billie Holiday, Carmen McRae, Oliver Nelson, Art Blakey and many more

♀In & Out Of Love at 1PM MST
Today's episode is Women in Love. You'll hear music from Barbra Streisand, Canada's first lady of jazz, Eleanor Collins, K.D. Lang, and a long lineup of incredible Canadian artists sharing all sides of love!

👹Grendelhome at 8:30PM MST
The second of the imp-generated, monster-narrated shows. Yes, they're playing the same artists in the same order out of malicious compliance, but they neglected to realize that the music is still awesome! Also, they still included five and a half Edmonton acts!

🔊Noise Factor at 8:30PM MST
Nothing like working to a deadline. This was another of those weeks where Noise Factor almost didn't happen, but your host would not want to leave you without heavy tunes to listen to on a Saturday night, so here we are. Urzah starts it all off with a wall of noise and there's more where that came from including Charger, Earth Ship, Unida, and Eldergrey. Astro Throne released a single earlier this year that I only just discovered, so we'll hear that too, and a closing doom metal epic from Chora. All this and more, tonight!

It's Friday...time to get LIT with the Basement DJ 🍻🎶

🍁Living In Tune (LIT) at 8PM MST
Tonight, LIT dives into memories of the early aughts, some 80's and 90s rock, and we also go way back to the 1960's. If you tune in, you will enjoy a long set of the Canuck musicians that yours truly enjoyed at this year's Pigeon Lake Fest, as well as PLM Concert series at the end of August. The show tonight is mostly Canadian artists, but there are a few other surprises thrown in!

🤪Basement DJ at 9:30PM MST
This mix is called “Bonkers”. That can only mean one thing! It’s all over the place musically. Will you like it? Join me to find out! Artists include: Jelly Roll, Train, Black Sabboth, 311, Stone Temple Pilots, Paramore, Whitesnake, Tape Five, Bran Van 3000, Violent Femmes, Poison, Morgan Wallern, Weezer, Chris Stapleton, Nelly Furtado, Jet, Rascal Flats, Luke Bryan, Our Lady Peace, Nazareth, Dr. Hook, Carpenters, Foreigner, Katrina & the Waves, Tate McRae, Michael Jackson, Lewis Capaldi, and many, many more…enjoy! I’m the Basement DJ and it’s all about the music!

Recognize these guys? Maybe if you heard their voices, you would. This week's YEG Music spotlight is none other than Big E's very own...Bad Communicators.

Rockin' clearly runs in the family. Thanks Tammy Katchur for submitting this photo from Dexter's Birthday Party Jam and a few months back.

If you're a YEG photographer, DM us your concert photos so we can feature them in our weekly YEG Music Highlight.

Open Roads, Windows Down, Tunes UP 🚜🎶

🗺 Start Your Own Country at 8PM MST
This week on Start Your Own Country, we’re stretching things out for the open highway. One playlist of nothing but long songs — the kind you can sink into while the miles roll by. Inspired by a road trip, it’s music built for wide skies, winding roads, and losing track of time.

📻 No matter where you're headed or where you come from, www.bigeradio.com has your soundtrack.

All good things must come to an end eventually (but never for long). This Sunday is the official last show of Fuse 'N Flow, our Sunday morning jazz special hosted by Todd Crawshaw. Todd has been with the station before it was even officially Big E Radio. Don't worry Todd, is still with us! He's going to continue to help behind the scenes, getting new curators started, and doing some production.

The first episode aired back in the Spring of 2021, on Big E's predecessor WYEG. Since then, there have been around 190 episodes!

Did you catch any of them, or maybe all of them? Share with us in the comments any of your favourite Fuse 'N Flow memories.

On Wednesdays, we listen to BOTH SIDES 🎶

✌Both Sides Now at 8PM MST
100 miles southeast of Max Yasgur’s farm in Bethel New York, where the WOODSTOCK MUSIC & ART FAIR took place in front of a half million blissed out youth, a different event was unfolding. The HARLEM CULTURAL FESTIVAL, produced by singer and community activist Tony Lawrence took place over the course of 6 weekends in July & August of 1969, at Mount Morris Park in Harlem New York and featured a stellar lineup of artists that included Stevie Wonder, Nina Simone, The Fifth Dimension and Sly & The Family Stone. tonight we're going to spin the soundtrack from Amir "Questlove" Thompson's 2021 documentary...

On this day in music history...Nirvana dropped their second studio album, Nevermind. Not only was this album their debut with the major label DGC Records, but also the first record with Dave Grohl on it. The album hit No. 1 on the charts in January 1992, and has since sold over 30 million copies.

What is your favourite track off the album?

Sir Talks a Lot dedicates this and the next episode to his little brother on his Birthday.
BROTHERS Part 1 of 2 (or maybe 3)

🥐Emanate at 8PM MST
This week is inspired by French immersion. Being brave enough to try to speak a new language competently is hard; listening to music like this makes it easier. Harmonium created a beautiful album based on the seasons we see in the world and the season of our life. We'll be listening to "Si on avait un cinquième saison" in addition to some favorites from Luc Tardif.

🔁It’s Not All I Got It’s What I Got (INAIGIWIG) 9PM MST
This week on INAIGIWIG we revisit an episode from Feb 11 2025 that I called Things That I Am. If "I" am it, there is probably a song for it...
