šŸŽ™ Informed Chiropractor Podcast – Clip with Dr. Peter Amlinger

What keeps a chiropractor inspired decade after decade? In this clip, Dr. Peter Amlinger breaks down the six levels of practice—from allopathic to creationistic care—and shows why understanding the full spectrum makes us more adaptable, effective, and fulfilled in practice.

✨ You’ll hear Dr. Amlinger share:

Why true inspiration comes from living the principle every day.

How universal and innate intelligence call us to keep expanding our awareness.

The six ā€œparking spotsā€ along the chiropractic continuum—and why sliding up and down them is essential for growth.

Why frustration often comes when we can’t link the bigger picture of chiropractic to a patient’s immediate concern.

This isn’t just theory—it’s a roadmap for staying inspired, growing in mastery, and bringing chiropractic’s full potential to every patient encounter.

šŸ”„ New Podcast Episode Drop! šŸ”„

This week, I sat down with Dr. Peter Amlinger, a chiropractor with 40 years of wisdom under his belt. We delved deeply into what it truly takes to stay authentic, adaptable, and resilient in practice today.

šŸ‘‰ Why understanding diverse perspectives is essential if you want to truly connect with your patients.
šŸ‘‰ The six levels of practice that every chiropractor should know (and how they shape patient outcomes).
šŸ‘‰ How authenticity and genuine communication can transform your care and your team.
šŸ‘‰ Why resilience, community, and sharing our real-life challenges keep us inspired for the long haul.

Peter also shares his journey from reductionistic care to creationistic care—and how that shift changed everything for him and his patients.

If you want to stay inspired, deepen your certainty, and get a preview of what Dr. Amlinger will bring to our Superconference in Toronto on December 6th this year, this is an episode you won’t want to miss.

Motivation does not solely determine patient interest or follow-through. In the old days, we were taught that teaching begins visit one. That by our amazing communication skills 😳 and pinning someone in a room for an assessment then another visit for a diatribe of all the benefits of chiropractic (even if they have never been adjusted before) then maybe if they are ā€œluckyā€ they get adjusted after listening to us talk for up to 2 hours over a couple visits - maybe be forced to watch a video or read brochures — and sign on for a year of care we were considered ā€œgreat convertersā€ of ā€œpure chiropracticā€ care - not giving any of our stuff away and making sure people really wanted it before applying the ā€œsoft productā€ of what we do and the only reason they booked an appt- some chiropractic care.
And that worked. For some. For a long time. But it’s not 1990- or 1895. It’s 2025. And the world has changed. People DO not learn in the state of their nervous system challenges they present in offices with. If they did, we should have seen chiropractic exponentially explode, but it has not. At all. People stay for a while then go— and because we cannot capture their attention (which ps is a blip in time) or understand 90% of your people don’t have a motivation problem- they have a nervous system offline issue that doesn’t get solved by talking - it gets solved by the chiropractic adjustment …… through a lens of getting that system online- beyond the bones and into a regulated state (NOT necessarily a parasympathetic one)
Applying information without a window into learning is an epic waste of a practitioner's time and is not nervous system forward. The prefrontal cortex is the LAST thing to come online. Until we bring safety to the rest of the system through specific cues - both via the adjustment but also via the environment and people—- in today's world, you won’t win the very war you want to creating a healthier humanity.
It’s time to understand people in 2025. Chiropractic stands the test of time, but our models and processes have not… Join us. This is what we teach. We have only 9ļøāƒ£ spots left for Toronto. Early bird ends September 1, and we don’t extend - ever.

We took a summer hiatus to practice what we teach—nervous-system care first. šŸ§ šŸ’¤ Now we’re back with a fall reset: how to stay predictable for your people without going through the motions, and how to prune what’s not serving you so your adjusting has a more profound regulating effect.

If you’re ready to focus again, this one’s for you.

You can share memes on Polyvagal- with nice quotes. Or re-share someone who is using their words as their own…. In quick snippets and nice comments- but that doesn’t help you become an INFORMED practitioner.
The lens we wear in practice is the glasses you put on that allow you to see the person on your table in a way that commands an outcome. That outcome is only available to the lens you view it through. See people as broken pieces- fix pieces. See people as needing therapeutic intervention- provide therapy. See people as flawed spines. Correct them. See people as a differential diagnosis- diagnose their disorders.
When the Europeans landed their ships on the banks of America, it’s reported that the natives couldn’t see them, because they had not seen ships before. Their brains were unable to identify something they had experienced; therefore, they were, in essence, blind to it. I believe life is like that- we are blind to approaches and new ways of practice until we can put new lenses on- and then you absolutely cannot unsee it.
We are proud to be in practice, wearing these lenses of Poly Vagal As as one of our guiding principles. We aren’t teaching theory- we are changing the way chiropractic is APPLIED and communicated. Because we see people as very understandable humans who are adapting in maladaptive environments. And those environments are not likely to change, so our job is to understand the algorithm of human health and behavior and work alongside it.
And you can too.

Most people think of breathing as something that ā€œjust happens.ā€But- taking a full breath is one of the most underused tools you have to optimize your nervous system tone.

When your diaphragm and pelvic floor move in full expansion and contraction—you’re not just moving air. You’re creating an internal wave from the top of your visceral cavity to the bottom that cues safety, improves lymphatic flow, supports digestion, and regulates your nervous system.

One of the biggest breakthroughs we’ve seen with the MacDonald Safety Corridor Protocol is freeing up the restrictions that stop this full-body breath from happening. When that ā€œsafety waveā€ is restored, people don’t just breathe differently… they live differently.

Your breath is your built-in regulator. And sometimes ā€œjust breatheā€ is anatomically impossible. Our work is not based on theory- it’s grounded in science- normal physiology- informed by Poly vagal and proven in full time clinical practice.
We will cover this in a few weeks in amsterdam

TIC Coaching Call Clip šŸŽ„: Embody It Before You Explain It

Here’s a little sneak peek from one of our recent coaching calls inside The Informed Chiropractor.

We talked about those first visits — and how they can feel overwhelming, flat, or even dreaded when you’re not clear on what really matters to you. When you’re trying to follow a script, hit all the ā€œrightā€ talking points, or mimic someone else’s version of chiropractic, it can feel… clunky. And your people can feel it too.

But when you’ve taken the time to deconstruct your core principles — when you actually embody what you believe — the words don’t matter as much. The right message comes through because it’s yours. That’s when the conversations get good. That’s when people start seeing chiropractic as part of their story.

It’s not about saying the perfect thing — it’s about noticing the moment and showing up real.

šŸ‘‰ If you’ve been curious about what these coaching calls are like… here’s your window in.

Hey Docs—here’s one for the ā€œI told you soā€ file.

We’ve been saying it for years… and now the research is catching up.
A new paper has been released, showing the connection between forward head posture, suboccipital muscle tone, and cervicogenic dizziness.

Translation?
When the tone is off in those deep stabilizers at the base of the skull, it disrupts proprioception, triggers dizziness, and throws the nervous system into a state of threat.

Sound familiar?
It’s precisely why Lock 1 in the MacDonald Safety Corridor Protocol starts at the upper cervical spine, where we track one of the most powerful physiological markers for safety: suboccipital tone.

This is your reminder:
Don’t skip the occiput.
Get curious about the tone.
Feel for resistance.
See if the body is actually ready to receive that force constructively.

It’s not about the bone.
It’s about what the nervous system is doing around the bone.
And the research is finally catching up to what we’ve all been feeling in our hands.
