A few years ago a friend of mine, who I like, we were enjoying a beer in his attached garage. He said we have to get rid of this "Goods and Services Economy". My friend is from a middle class background. He owns one of the most expensive motorcycles. He drives a 4x4 extended cab truck. His wife drives a SUV. They live in a nice 3 bedroom bungalow on a quiet residential street. He has a seasonal home. He enjoys winters in Florida. He is the epitome of "Conspicuous Consumption". I politely nodded but then said "What are you going to do when the power goes out? ". What do you mean? He retorted. Those workers that climb the power lines when it’s minus 20 out, well they won’t do it then. Yes they will he said, its their job. I said but they won’t be rewarded for it so why do it? Its their job, they’ll have to do it. So you’re going to force someone out to fix it, without any compensation. That really works in Cuba! (My apologies to my cuban friends).

Wild horses of Alberta, Canada. It’s been said that horses originated in North America, then crossed into Asia via the same land bridge that brought humans here. While they were eventually domesticated in Eurasia, they became extinct in North America. They were reintroduced back to North America by European settlers.

Wire cages protect trees from beavers. With the collapse of Canada’s Fur Trade, the beaver population has ballooned. Their traditional predators are limited. Without trees, the river bank would collapse into the river.

I went out to Cooking Lake Blackfoot Provincial Park, Waskehegan Staging Area, December 10, 2023. Just a little snow. Somebody had been skiing there. You will definitely need your rock skis.
