This “Dear Jane” piece makes my heart smile. This client enthusiastically enrolled in my 12-month Dear Jane workshop some years ago. He dove in with both feet and worked on many blocks presented in class. It soon became apparent though, that this huge-commitment project and several techniques were just not his jam. The project languished in bin in the basement (aka the guilt pile).

Enter a fresh guild challenge for the 2026 Quilt Show… The Round Bobbin Challenge (thanks to .suz and the remarkable Round Bobbin Project). These 12 Dear Jane blocks will hang proudly … and finished!

Sometimes the original project doesn’t have to be finished as first intended to be spectacular.

Where We’re Headed Next
As the quilting world continues to shift, I’m more committed than ever to celebrating the places where creativity is alive and thriving.

That’s why my upcoming tours focus on destinations rich in textile history, artistry, and inspiration — from London & Birmingham to Newfoundland in 2026, Australia, Quilt Canada Calgary, and Ireland in 2027 and beyond.

There’s a whole world of quilting waiting for us. And as we enter a new year, I warmly invite you to join me on one of my 2026 adventures: London/Birmingham & Festival of Quilts or Newfoundland Creative Escape.

Why Birmingham Stands Out
Since mentioning Birmingham’s Festival of Quilts the other day, many have asked: Is it really that good?
My answer: Yes — absolutely.

It’s Europe’s largest quilt show and one of the most vibrant, diverse, creatively charged events I’ve ever attended. The exhibits push boundaries. The vendors bring innovation. The atmosphere? Electric.

It feels like Quilt Market and Quilt Festival used to feel — but with a fresh, modern edge.

Come feel that energy for yourself in July 2026. And if you prefer something closer to home, Newfoundland Creative Escape 2026 offers its own breathtaking inspiration.

This wonky tree quilt is known as “Lodge Pole Pine” using the piecing technique Stargazey Trees. A vintage quilt pulled from the archives, finished in time for gift giving this season!!
