I definitely went to the pool more than once when we went to Fairmont Jasper Park Lodge

Over 10,000 years ago, the glacier in the Athabasca River Valley slowly moved across these rocks, breaking away pieces and resulting in the formation of a cliff. Jasper’s hardest rock, the Gog quartzite, broke off in large blocks.

A stream flowing beneath the glacier initiated the formation of the canyon. As the glacier retreated, the Athabasca River took over and continued to gradually deepen and widen the canyon, removing several millimetres of rock each year.

Travel tip:

⛰️ You can only bring strollers/wheelchairs by the falls. You will need to carry it if you want to go down the stairs as pictured above.

⛰️ Arrive early to avoid the crowd.
