Keeper of the Shadows

This image was created in my small 8x14 home studio with an 8-foot ceiling. The subject wore a mask, a white-gray wig, and white contact lenses, with a fog machine filling the space to create that haunting, hazy atmosphere. In editing, I built a blue overlay to give the scene its spectral glow. The only digital adjustment made was slightly enlarging the hump on her back, everything else, from her posture to her hands to her expression, is exactly as captured in camera. This piece is what I would call conceptual fantasy portraiture: rooted in photography, but elevated into something mythic through character and atmosphere.

The Keeper of the Shadows is a guardian of the unseen, burdened with carrying the secrets and fears that cannot survive in the light. Her bent form marks the weight of what she holds, while her pale eyes pierce through the masks others wear, exposing hidden truths. She is neither hunter nor savior, but a sentinel at the edge of darkness, bound to protect the shadows that cling to every soul.

"The Jekyll Gambit"

This piece marks the beginning of my journey into conceptual art and visual storytelling. Inspired by the old black-and-white films I loved, I set out to create not just a photograph, but a narrative, one character embodying two sides of himself, playing out an eternal duel across the chessboard.

Dr. Jekyll leans back, pipe in hand, the image of patience, strategy, and restraint. Across from him sits Hyde, restless and impulsive, surging forward with reckless abandon. In this duel, the chessboard becomes more than a game, it is a metaphor for life itself, where patience collides with chaos, and reason battles impulse.

By using one model to portray both sides, this piece reflects the truth that our greatest struggles are not against others, but within ourselves. The Jekyll Gambit was my first move into creating art that goes beyond capturing likeness, it was where I discovered that photography could be the stage for the stories we all carry inside.

The human body is a living sculpture—each curve, line, and muscle a work of art. Light shapes and defines, tracing power and form, while shadow keeps the mystery alive. Together they transform anatomy into timeless art.

I never got the chance to complete this project, so I’m bringing it back to the studio—pushing the play of light and shadow to create new images that honor the body’s beauty.
