Congratulations to Ty Sebastian, the 2025 ISC Canada East Player of the Year! Ty was this year's ISC World Tournament MVP, leading his Bear Creek Express to the championship game, finishing with a 7-2 record and pitching in every game. The Express were the Canada East Qualifier Champions early in the season and, after playing for Team Canada at the World Cup and the World Games, Ty led Sebringville Sting from his home Huron County league to the Ontario Challenge Cup Championship in late September - quite a season!
We spoke with Ty and asked him to reflect on a remarkable 2025. Here's what he had to say: "First off want to say thanks to my family for their continued support and being there every step of the way. Also, I would like to thank Scott, Elena and family for everything they do for us Bear Creek Express players. And congratulations to all of your nominees for the Player of the Year Award - it's great to see so many players have success in our game at the highest levels!
Looking back at the season it started out good for us winning in Mitchell, it didn't take us long to buy in as a team. We all were playing for the name on the front of the jersey. We grew together as a group, and our biggest thing that we had to overcome was the language barrier. Quickly, we all came together with the common goal. As for the run we went on at ISC we just kept the one-game-at-a-time mentality going throughout out the week.
Winning the MVP award at the ISC was an amazing career achievement. However, that Award couldn't have been possible without the play of my teammates that week.
The national team was an amazing experience this year with being in China and Prince Albert. It was definitely a cool experience being in the World Games in China and bringing home a medal from it. It's different playing in a setting like that being in a multi-sport event and getting the support from other athletes from our country.
Lastly, it was a fun time playing with the Sting for sure. It's nice seeing teams from the HCFL going to the ISC World Tournament. It was a lot of ball in a short amount of time and it was a run we went on Sunday to win it. It was a fun time to also play alongside a couple guys from my league team in the HCFL the Brussels Tigers - Andrew Baker and Dennis Dewar."
Ty was previously the Player of the Year in 2023.
