Today's Gratitude: To whoever invented tent canopies. I'm sitting outside, as the rain falls around me, enjoying the outdoors while making final edits to a book before sending it to the printer. (I finished reading just before the downpour!)

Happy Saskatchewan Day!

It was moving day! And what a long yet satisfying day it was. My house sold and it was time to move the last of my stuff to my new home in Emerald Park, SK and/or get it ready for selling or giveaway.

I'm grateful to Dave and Kent and Marlowe for their help. They worked hard while I mostly supervised. They shared a few laughs on a hot day, and finished with some yardwork at Dave's place. Thanks, guys. You're the best!

Today's Gratitude: This is in praise of those times when your past life bounces happily into your present...

Janice Howden and I met more than a decade ago when I was collecting story submissions for the Cream Money book. This lovely human has since contributed stories from her rural Saskatchewan background to that book plus all three Fun On The Farm volumes. And I even helped her publish her award-winning kids' book, Rescued.

Along the way, Janice became a friend and a travel partner, and we enjoyed excursions to Europe, Newfoundland, and B.C. We each live in new places now, but our friendship remains unaffected. Thanks, Janice, for visiting while on your way through this part of Saskatchewan! I am grateful for your friendship, trust, and support. β™₯️

Retired bush pilot Dorrin Wallace and I worked on the edits to his memoir during these past couple of days, and we had some fun doing it.
Dorrin likes to tease me, and I like to stare back at him and maybe even roll my eyes or smile. Then we both laugh. 😁

The manuscript is ready for the next steps in the process. It's going out to a few prereader volunteers while I work on creating a layout.

We plan to have the book about his aviation adventures ready for purchase in September. Stay tuned!

The weekend is at hand, and it's going to be a great one, surrounded by flowers, finches, and some of my new family. (After I get a bit more editing done. 😊) Life is good.

I enjoyed a break from work, spending time for lunch, thrifting, and garden centre shopping with my youngest daughter Dani. It's become an annual early birthday gift for her, and we love spending that mother-daughter time together. Nothing fills my bucket like food, plants, and family. Ahhhh....

I enjoyed another nice visit with one of my favourite Saskatoon residents. Almost-103-year-old Reg Crash Harrison is doing just fine. We laugh a lot when we get together and we get a kick out of each other's stories.

Today, I entertained Reg with the latest "What were you thinking, Deana?" moment, which involves me not paying close attention as I put lotion on my face for the last two mornings at a Saskatoon hotel. The lotion was in a small refillable travel bottle of mine, but I didn't read my own label. I thought it had an unusual smell to it, but whatever.

Turns out it was hair conditioner! The same colour as Lubriderm lotion, but not quite the same effect. My partner asked if my face is now beautifully conditioned. Why yes, it is.

I'm sure my Alberta granddaughters are thinking they could write another "Silly Grandma" book right about now. πŸ˜πŸ˜‚πŸ˜Š

I'm in Saskatoon again, thrilled to finish the writing/rewriting process for Dorrin Wallace's bush pilot's stories. Tonight, I'm donating some DriverWorks Ink books to a Shriner golf tourney event. Dorrin and I also posed a few times in our quest to take a good co-authors photo for the book. I'm leaning toward the top left one. Whaddya think?

When in Saskatoon... spend time with two terrific authors and play with a puppy dog!
I'm helping retired bush pilot Dorrin Wallace cowrite his biography full of interesting stories. The book will be released this fall. Stay tuned.
Mary Harelkin Bishop couldn't determine which of the two Tunnels of Time adventure books is the original and which is the new reprint!
And Mary's dog Sadie thought the person who is allergic to dogs (me) should overlook that and still play with her. She's so freakin' cute!

Today's Gratitude: To the Saskatchewan Aviation Museum and Saskatchewan Writers Guild for their support of a successful author reading event on Sunday, July 6! Almost 103-year-old Reg Crash Harrison and I had a blast telling his stories and signing books afterward! I especially enjoyed having the audience of 100 people sing an early Happy Birthday to Reg, who turns 103 in August. What a great night!
