🔴 IT’S NOT JUST A RED DOT.
Since rolling out the new MJ INTERACTIVE branding, I’ve had a few people ask about the red dot.
Why red? Why a dot? What does it mean?
Well… quite a bit, actually.
🔴 RECORD.
Look at almost any camera and that little red circle means one thing: you’re recording. It’s a symbol I’ve spent years looking at through cameras, video equipment and software.
🔴 LIVE.
In the video world, red often means you’re live. The cameras are rolling, the feed is going out, and whatever happens next is happening right now.
🔴 POWER & STATUS.
Across audio, video and electronic equipment, that little red indicator can mean power, standby, clipping, low battery, warning… basically: pay attention to this.
🔴 LIGHT.
A glowing red dot also looks a whole lot like a PAR, spotlight or stage fixture pointed straight at you — another huge part of what we do.
🔴 NIGHTLIFE.
Red is bold, energetic and dramatic. It feels at home in a dark room surrounded by music, lighting, video walls, stages and crowds — which is where a lot of MJ INTERACTIVE events really come alive. 🎧🎶💡
🔴 STOP.
And maybe one of the most universally understood meanings…
When you see a round red light at an intersection, what do you do?
You stop. 🛑
You notice it.
You pay attention.
That was important to me too.
Because the red dot is designed to interrupt all the black and white around it. Your eye naturally finds it. It becomes a focal point — almost like a little visual exclamation mark.
And over time, my goal is even simpler:
When you see 🔴, I want you to think MJ INTERACTIVE.
Recording.
Live.
Power.
Lighting.
Nightlife.
Attention.
A moment worth capturing.
Because ultimately, almost everything I do is about creating, capturing or producing a moment and that someone will…
