Ok. It felt very awkward recording a podcast on the tragedy in Tumbler Ridge. If feels even more akward trying to actively share the episode. But after some encouragement from a friend, here it is.
This one is heavy and also full of potential landmines for us to stumble over while talking.
We process the gravity of events and how close to hike it feels, proximity wise as well as considering the age of our own children.
We talk about the controversy of the reporting regarding the gender of the killer and how we, as well as the rest of the conservatove world reacted to it.
We talk about thinking of perpetrators of heinous acts, as "first victims." What is the guilt or culpability of somebody who is bullied or unstable?
We talk about affirming.
We talk about aside partisan opinions to grieve.
If theres one thing tontake away from this however, its thoughts at the end on how to fight the darkness that our kids generation is swimming in.
Id normally say, "Ihope you enjoy this episode." But I dont. I hope it breaks your heart because this topic is heartbreaking. Don't be entertained by it, theres nothing about these topics that are to be enjoyed.
But I do invite you to listen and help wrestle with these things with us. Wrestle with them so we can guide the next generation into a life that is full of light, joy and fulfillment.
