"In October 2022, the City of Fredericton announced its plan for the bus fleet’s transition from exclusively fuel-based to hybrid models. Hybrid buses rely on both diesel and electricity. According to the CBC, they have been shown to emit “between 35 and 40 percent fewer greenhouse gasses” than regular buses."

Fredericton is not the first city in Canada (or even New Brunswick) to adopt a hybrid fleet. In Saint John, the first hybrid buses took to the streets in July, and the City of Saint John also leased six fully electric, smaller buses.

"Art Battle International hosts events all over North America attempting to shine a light on the talents of locally known artists. At a glance, the Battle consists of amateur painters who paint live within a time limit, with live voting also coming in from people online and in person. There are 3 rounds of the competition and every piece painted is put up in a silent auction at the Charlotte Street Arts Centre. "

"Clearly, a key theme of the Fathom the Depths is comparison and contrast. Apart from the obvious contrast between science and art, or nature and technology, the combination of striking visuals and haunting prose creates a full buffet of artistic offerings. Essentially, the exhibit provides not only a purely visual artistic experience but instead combines striking visual art with cerebral and internal artistic expression in the form of haunting poetry. Our Story

The Brunswickan is a community news organization situated on the University of New Brunswick’s Fredericton campus. Our first issue was published in 1867, prior to any other official student publication at a Canadian university.

The Dalhousie Gazette at Dalhousie University in Halifax, Nova Scotia, claims the title of "oldest student newspaper in Canada." The Gazette has published consecutively since 1868, whereas there are significant gaps in the publishing history of The Brunswickan.

A founding member of the Canadian University Press, The Brunswickan remains one of the largest community newspapers in Atlantic Canada.

In January 2009, the paper switched from broadsheet to tabloid format in response to financial pressures, and in an effort to reduce its impact on the environment. The Brunswickan subsequently dropped its circulation from 10,000 to 6,000 issues per week later that month, and again to 5,000 in 2012. Circulation dropped again to 4,000 in September 2013.
