CBC’s Books and Backroads returns this summer in collaboration with New Brunswick libraries! 📚☀️

This year, six libraries will host book clubs, all focused on books by New Brunswick authors or with a New Brunswick connection. We're thrilled to see three Goose Lane titles on the list: Knife Party at the Hotel Europa by Mark Anthony Jarman, One Indian Summer by Wayne Curtis, and the English edition of Pélagie: The Return to Acadie.

Every Friday morning, one of the book club discussions will be featured on Information Morning in the Summer.

Don't miss out on the book club of the summer! Get a copy at your local library, bookstore, or at gooselane.com/BooksAndBackroads

Keep your eyes peeled in the coming months for information on a gorgeous new art book that accompanies the Hidden Blackness exhibition 😍

Hidden Blackness: Edward Mitchell Bannister, is the first exhibition of Edward Bannister’s work presented in Canada - 124 years after the artists death.

Self-taught pastoral landscape painter, Bannister won first prize at the 1876 Centennial Exposition in Philadelphia for his painting Under the Oaks (now lost), making him the first African American/Canadian to win a major American art prize. While Bannister is increasingly revered in the United States, he remains largely unknown in Canada.

Learn more about Edward Bannister in summer exhibition: Hidden Blackness: Edward Mitchell Bannister. On view until September 14, 2025 📅

🖼 Now available! 🖼

We're thrilled to partner with the Beaverbrook Art Gallery to bring you John Fox: A Painter in Venice!

This beautifully crafted collection showcases Fox’s artworks created over decades from his beloved Venice — the Paradise of Cities. Accompanying an exhibition at the Beaverbrook Art Gallery open now, the volume shows the artist’s evolution from painting the heart of Venice to painting views of canals and squares in less familiar parts of the city.
