A new release!

Emergency Flash Mob is excited to announce the publication of Danny Jacobs’ Dreamland: The Bishop House Fragments!

Part memoir, part journey through Bishop’s poetry (and that’s only two parts!) Dreamland is the second entry in the Entrepôt series, one essay chapbook per year that deals with poetics, craft, or other engagement with poetry by a Canadian poet.

Submissions are always open for this series — the 2025 slot is open!

Available now! $10 local or add $3 shipping. E-transfer to [email protected] or email me at that address with any questions!

Now available for order! Mark Sampson’s Big Wilson. A limited edition of 100 copies. $10 (+$3 to ship anywhere in Canada).

We’ll have a table at the upcoming UNB Poetry Weekend (Sept 30-Oct 1) and Author Fair at the Fredericton Public Library on Oct 14 (10-3).

Here’s a description:
Music and literature collide in this long poem about grief, loss, and the family bonds that constrain us as much as they hold us together. The hero of this narrative-in-verse rejects the siren call of the stage for a solitary life of authorship, even as he grapples with death — first his brother’s, then his wife’s, and finally his own. Big Wilson is a tender examination of how place, ambition, and those we choose to love ultimately shape who we become.

Our last book of 2023 is experiencing serious (and frustrating) delays at the printer but it should be out soon. But this post is about submissions...

Submissions are open! O-P-E-N-!

Our mission is to publish groundbreaking new work by emerging or established Canadian poets, in low-cost but beautiful limited editions! We have a soft spot for New Brunswick poets, and we particularly encourage BIPOC writers, writers with disabilities, and 2SLGBTQQIA+ writers to submit.

How to submit: send your complete poetry manuscript (approx. 20-30 pages) to [email protected]. Please include a cover letter (separate or in email body) that includes your name, bio, where you’re from, and publication history.

Send questions, comments, ideas, etc. anytime. Like our page to stay up to date!!

Submissions close in 1 month... October 5. Publication scheduled through 2024!

Enjoying being a publisher: the creative processes of editing, designing, etc. Sent proofs off to one author this afternoon. Copy edits going to another author tonight (hopefully). I’m publishing one chapbook that will be an essay on some aspect of poetics each year… submissions always open for this one (send to [email protected]) and at least 2 poetry chapbooks.

Putting my marketing hat on, I realize I haven’t announced this year’s list. The essay chapbook is already available. It’s by Sue Sinclair and called _At the Frog Pond: On Ecological Beauty and the Climate Crisis_. You can buy one now for $10 + $3 shipping (email [email protected] to order).

The two poetry chapbooks for 2023 are:

_Fault Lines and Shatter Cones_ by Kim Fahner
and
_Big Wilson_ by Mark Sampson

These should be ready to order by August/September and hopefully available at UNB Poetry Weekend. Submission guidelines for 2024 will open in the fall.

Exciting times!
