The Digging Dudes

The Digging Dudes We are a three dudes who love to hunt for old relics. We find lost treasures either by accident or on purpose. Save some history with us?

We're always seeking out adventures that bring the past back to the future one treasure at a time. Welcome to The Digging Dudes official page. We're a group of passionate local history enthusiasts who aren't your average or typical history buffs. We're a laid-back team of professional metal detectorists who are on a mission to uncover the hidden treasures of the Ottawa Valley. In fact, our dedicat

ion to preserving local history was recognized when we won the Awesome Ottawa's award in November 2022. We use metal detectors to unearth all sorts of fascinating items that have been buried for over 200 years. Our motto is simple yet powerful: "Bringing the past back to the future, one treasure at a time." To us, treasure isn't just about its monetary value; it's the stories these items have to tell. Whether it's a spoon, horseshoe, pocket watch, ring, buckle, or even an old coin, these artifacts hold pieces of history. We believe it's our duty to document and share these stories, ensuring they aren't forgotten. Thanks to the generous permissions of numerous landowners in the area, we had an incredible year saving history from being lost forever. To those who have already supported us, a big heartfelt thank you! Now, we're on a quest to connect with more landowners, especially those with older homes and farms. We want to keep uncovering the rich history that lies beneath the soil. If you're interested or know someone who might be, please message me directly. And here's the best part – we document and film our discoveries and leave no mess behind. It's completely cost-free, and we have plenty of references to vouch for our responsible work. If this project piques your interest, check out some of the incredible things we've found on our website, www.TheDiggingDudes.ca. Let's work together to keep our local history alive and thriving! 😊

We do not get paid for this hobby, so consider buying us a coffee if you like what you see. A coffee will fuel our future hunts. https://www.buymeacoffee.com/thediggingdudes

Join The Digging Dudes—Jeff, Aaron, and Will—along with special guest Rob, as we head deep into the Pontiac region of Quebec to the historic town of Fort Coulonge. We’ve been invited by Jane, the great-niece of John Bryson, to explore the original Bryson family homestead and help preserve a piece of her family’s history. Using our Nokta and XP Deus metal detectors, we unearth a treasure trove of Canadian relics, lost artifacts, and one very special personal item that once belonged to a Bryson ancestor!

If you love metal detecting in Canada, treasure hunting, or discovering hidden history, you won’t want to miss this adventure. We share tips, detector settings, and live reactions as we dig real history from the ground.

Thinking about getting into metal detecting? Curious what treasures might lie beneath your old property? Reach out! We’re always looking for new permissions and historic sites to explore for our 2025 season. Subscribe, like, and join our growing community of Canadian detectorists—because every signal tells a story, and every dig brings history back to life.

Today the dudes invited out a couple of friends to A huge soy field permission.
We had a blast and found a bunch of cool relics.
Including an 1857 upper Canada half penny dragon slayer,
An american matron head large cent,
1857 Prince Edward Island Self-Governing half penny,
1881 Queen Victoria large cent, a queen Victoria silver dime, two King Edward large cents, a 1945 silver quarter, a bunch of bells and buckles and a really cool whistle. It was an awesome day and we had an amazing chili for lunch to keep us warm in this beautiful fall weather.

The Dudes received a ring recovery request yesterday about someone losing a ring at a very popular beach. We had Aaron head out to look for it before it was too late. He successfully recovered the ring and returned it to the VERY happy owner today!

Join The Digging Dudes, Jeff and Will, as we set out on another exciting metal detecting adventure in the Ottawa Valley! This time, we had the privilege of searching the grounds of a historic Canadian home, and what we unearthed left us completely speechless. Among the usual relics and treasures, we uncovered a rare and unique artifact so extraordinary that no other example has ever been found. One collector even offered us $2500 for it—proving that hidden treasures are still waiting to be found right beneath our feet.
