Today, while on an adventure, I came across a Spotted Tussock Moth caterpillar (Lophocampa maculata). What a cutie😆... We moved it to safety.

😪This is why I document places...so you can see history and hopefully don't repeat its self.

This is, River Country in Disney’s Fort Wilderness.

River Country was the first water park at Walt Disney world that opened in 1976 and closed permanently in 2005. Water pumped in and filtered from Bay Lake to create a convincing swimming, but eventually closed permanently due to various factors, including increasing concerns about waterborne illnesses and being the first Disney park ever to do so.

There were several deaths that took place at River Country. The first was of an 11-year-old boy who contracted amoebic meningoencephalitis, an amoebic infection of the brain, from the water in 1980. Park officials said it was an inherent problem with freshwater lakes in warm weather and thus could not be blamed on the park's water system. Three other children had died in similarly questionable situations, in Florida, in the same month.The other two deaths were from drowning, in 1982 and 1989 😪
