Up a Creek with Neil

Up a Creek with Neil Real stories. Real people. Real talk, from a logging town kid turned global wanderer.

Welcome to “Up a Creek with Neil.” I’m Neil — a former high-climber, state legislator, and lifelong observer of people, politics, and the quiet things that make life meaningful. This show explores stories from the edge — where humor, hardship, and humanity meet. From the forests of the Pacific Northwest to resort life in the Coachella Valley, we invite you to listen, laugh, and reflect.

"Stepping with a Purpose"
Every journey changes us — sometimes in ways we never expect. For Susan Amondson, the Camino de Santiago wasn’t just about reaching Santiago; it was about discovering what still lies within — endurance, gratitude, and a deeper
walk with God.

And for Dr. Kevin St. Clair, a man who’s logged thousands of trail miles, it reaffirmed a truth that every traveler eventually learns — that strength begins with stillness, and healing begins when we stop long enough to listen.

Together, they remind us that purpose isn’t found in the distance we travel, but in the direction we choose each day. Whether it’s 500 miles across Spain or five minutes of quiet reflection, every step counts.

Episode 4 "From Motocross Prodigy to Adaptive Golf Competitor" with Brock Leitner is now live on our website and the above streaming services!

Brock Leitner grew up in Summerland, British Columbia, fueled by an unstoppable drive for competition and speed. By age four, he was already racing motocross; by sixteen, he had turned pro—competing across Canada and the U.S. in one of the most demanding and dangerous sports on earth. In June 2022, a devastating accident left him paralyzed from the chest down. Yet within months, Brock began redefining what it means to live with purpose. With determination, family support, and a deep faith in the next chapter, he discovered a new competitive outlet in adaptive golf.

Today, he travels across North America competing in elite events like the U.S. Adaptive Open, inspiring others who face life-altering setbacks. Off the course, Brock remains an athlete at heart—a student of discipline, mindset, and resilience.

His story is one of courage, reinvention, and refusing to let circumstance define identity. “When one door closes, another opens.”

In this Episode, Neil talks with Logan Washburn, a young journalist helping shape America’s next political conversation. Representing a generation raised amid cultural transformation, Logan shares how his peers are reframing what it means to engage — with curiosity, courage, and respect.

His insights remind us that bridging divides requires both reflection and dialogue — and that listening across generations may be the most radical act of all.
