My Breast Day was thoughtfully and intentionally created by a breast cancer survivor, in hopes of providing education, resources, and support to other women.

We are grateful for the community we have built, a community that includes absolutely incredible women like Alison, who take their experience and let it drive them to help others.

“After completing treatment, I worked with an incredible group of women to fundraise for a Mozart 3D imaging system for our hospital. Turning something terrifying into something meaningful is an amazing feeling."

The MOZART 3D Specimen Radiography System is an advanced intraoperative X-ray tool that uses 3D tomosynthesis to image excised breast tissue in 1mm digital slices. This lets surgeons check tumour margins in real time to help reduce repeat surgeries.

Thank you for your incredible contributions to your community, Alison 🤎

“I told myself that I needed to live for my children and myself, but I also decided that if this was it, the end, I would savour every second of life I could.

Cancer forced me to look at how I was living my life and what is truly important. I can honestly say, 'thank you, cancer, for showing me that I only have one life.'

I am choosing me, doing the things I love, giving back to my community, fundraising for local breast cancer support, spending real time with my family and friends, and supporting my fellow breast cancer survivors. I have met the most courageous, funny, supportive, and strong women I have ever known.”

Happy Canada Day.
Today, we celebrate this country and the people in it.

But here’s a statistic that can’t be ignored:
1 in 8 women in Canada will be diagnosed with breast cancer in their lifetime.

Early detection is powerful. Knowledge is essential. Action makes the difference.

Today, we celebrate National Indigenous Peoples Day, honouring the cultures, traditions, languages, and contributions of First Nations, Inuit, and Métis Peoples across Turtle Island.

As we celebrate, we also recognize the ongoing barriers that many Indigenous communities face when accessing health care. Geographic isolation, limited access to screening services, systemic racism, and a lack of culturally safe care continue to create inequities in health outcomes across Canada.

These barriers have real consequences. Indigenous women are more likely to face delays in screening and diagnosis, which can contribute to poorer breast cancer outcomes and lower survival rates. Too many individuals must travel long distances for care, navigate systems that were not designed with their communities in mind, or go without the support they need altogether.

At My Breast Day, we believe everyone deserves equitable access to breast health education, screening, and care. As an Indigenous-founded organization, we are committed to raising awareness, advocating for change, and working toward a future where quality, culturally safe health care is accessible to all.

Today, we celebrate the strength, resilience, knowledge, and leadership of Indigenous Peoples, while continuing the work to address the inequities that impact Indigenous health.
