My Photography Journey
My photography journey began when I started shooting competitively more specifically 3-gun shooting, when I was 19 years old. Initially photography was a tool display footage for the pursuit of sponsorships within the then exploding gun industry. BUT as gun laws slowly but surely prohibited the sport in Canada I began transitioning my passion, I went from photographing sho
oting competitions to capturing every life event. The transition to photography began to consume my life although then my passion was simply capturing my lives moments with photos wile journaling my mental health journey in the captions. I began to have friends and family approach me in public congratulating me, but also sharing their personal experiences and difficulties with there mental health. They thanked me for breaking the stigma around mental health in that I was so very open about it, they appreciated understanding they were not the only ones struggling. This made me want to post more and share more, I liked that I was inspiring people to better their mental health and understand they are not alone. For years I was really into the limitations of a smart phone, I would never zoom in on anything so every picture was very raw and candid. My theory like a modern Polaroid I enjoyed the limitations and the demanded imagination of angles and forced artistic expression that a smart phone forced. I have been literally crippled by severe depression, anxiety, ADHD, bipolar 1 all my life. Because of the series of mental health disability comorbidity puts me on the autistic spectrum and more particularly as having Aspergers. I was diagnosed at 25 years old, I then began my deep dive in my personal development and mental health. Over the years I've grown to become very sick of people not understanding my extreme social disconnect and their miss-understanding forcing them, or I to then terminate my position although all were jobs I loved. Furthermore if it wasn't my Aspergers effecting my employment then jobs were seasonal, all this has been my final push to pursue photography. I get to express my self and enjoy my passion, previously a severe disability now literally the source and fuel to my creativity and expression in photography. Over the last two years I have been receiving messages from people telling me how amazing my work is and pushing me to pursue photography. So in addition of those recommendations and my mental health issues I finally pulled the trigger and purchased a professional level camera! Book photo shoots.
2. Give page reviews, with attached favourite photo!
3. Share my page, invite people to like and follow. Photography is a grind to get known well enough and by enough people to get put in front of enough potential clients to then have enough bookings to pay bills. So sharing and using the invite tool is very valuable and apretiated!
