The day before my birthday this year, Jon and I took a tour at where we got to see the majority of their permanent residents who aren’t able to be released back into the wild due to previous human interference.
All of these animals have stories. Some, I can’t even believe are real. However, seeing them being well taken care of and living their best lives here at Aspen Valley Wildlife Sanctuary gave me hope and inspiration.
The goal at Aspen Valley is to care for injured and orphaned wildlife. Once rehabilitated, they release the animals back in the wild for a second chance. The animals who are in rehab are not part of the tours, as it is crucially important to keep human interaction with them at the absolute minimum.
Just this year alone, they’ve rescued 980 animals in need!
Aspen valley is a non-profit organization. Everything bought through them, whether that be tour tickets and/or merch goes directly back into supporting them and the animals in their care.
In Spring of 2025, they also announced that they achieved accreditation from the Global Federation of Animal Sanctuaries (GFAS), which is a HUGE accomplishment!!!
This means they are recognized for upholding the highest standards of animal care and ethical practices.
I’d like to express my heartfelt gratitude to our tour guide Lynn, Ingrid and all the amazing staff at Aspen Valley Wildlife Sanctuary.
In a time in my life that’s been difficult, visiting them was my favorite day of the whole year. And I can’t wait to return!
