7PM Tonight! The season 2 finale of Glimpses of the Grim premiers! And this one is special... it consists of ONE CONTINUOUS SHOT. aka a "oner".

That's right, with the exception of the small "tag" at the end, the entire episode is one, truly continuous, uncut, 5+ minute long shot (blood, guts and all).

This was the most difficult thing I've had to shoot to date. As the cinematographer, it was one hell of a challenge. Choreographing all my movements around the actors choreographed movements, being my own focus puller (because everything had to be manual focus and the setup didn't allow for a First AC), making sure a continually moving scene was lit without seeing the lights (or getting in the way of the lights), making sure framing was on point... and so much more.

AND... not only was it shot in one take, but we only had one chance to get it right. Due to all the blood and gore, there was no way to reset and do it again. We had to rehearse without effects until we felt confident enough to try it for real... then we had one chance to get it right!

So, if you tune in at 7pm tonight, what you'll see is exactly what we shot in that one take. No cuts. No CGI. All FX done practically and in real time.

We are all really proud of this one and have to thank our talented team of actors and crew for all their hard work on this one. Enjoy and Happy Hallowe'en!

Some cool film related stuff!

I tried to make this short, but those of you who know me well know I struggle with that. Sooo...

First, the backstory...

One year ago, Richard Barlow and I (and a bunch of fellow artists) created a small, zero budget web series called Glimpses of the Grim. It consisted of 6 "micro-films" in the horror genre.

The purpose was to build our skills and portfolios so that we could make even bigger and better films in the future. Once we finished those 6 episodes, we put them up on YouTube to share with friends and family.

After a year online, they have accumulated a few thousand views, and one of the shorts even got into a couple film festivals and won awards. Totally unexpected!

We had so much fun, learned so much, and got so much great feedback that we decided to do a second season.

Now, on to the present...

This year, we ran a crowd funding campaign and crushed our goal, pushing us from being a zero budget production to being a low budget production, and allowing us to up the production value of the series.

As of this post, we've released 4 of the 6 episodes for this season, with the last 2 episodes releasing at 7pm Tuesday October 28 and Thursday October 31.

We're proud of all of our episodes, but these last two are worth noting. We wanted to do something special for this season, and we came up with two episodes that we think stand out from the rest.

I won't spoil anything and won't give any hints just yet, but I'll say this...

The episode releasing on the 28th is "more" than any of our other episodes in a number of ways. You'll have to stay tuned for more details.

The episode releasing on Halloween pushed the abilities of everyone involved in its creation. It is a technical and artistic achievement that we are all proud of and can't wait to share.

While you wait for the last two exciting installments in this season's micro anthology, you can watch the first four episodes from this season by checking out the season 2 playlist here:

To everyone who supported these projects through their hard work, donations, sharing on social media, watching/liking/commenting on YouTube... Thank you very much! We hope these little horror shorts help make your Halloween season just a little more spooky.
