There are only two kinds of “unpopular opinions” posted on social media:

1) merely the second-most popular opinion
2) not actually an opinion because it’s just factually wrong

This ‘super unpopular opinion’ is one of the latter.

1) no
2) it’s historically been more like 40%
3) after you control for income (because single dads make more money), kids in single-father households are equally likely to be incarcerated
4) reflect on why you decided to shift the attention away from the absent father

This tweet about a “new green flag” is, itself, a red flag. The only dudes who’re afraid of an app women can use to vet their dates are the dudes who won’t pass the test.

To be totally clear: I’m not saying that folks are lying or claiming an identity that is not theirs. Racing to innocence is about denying or obscuring your privilege by problematically fixating on your very real oppression. So there is a type of dishonesty here, but it’s not the ‘lying about a diagnosis’ type.

I’m also stunned that the ‘say it’ clip wasn’t seen as evidence of coercion rather than consent.

I'm not surprised that EM, the victim in the Hockey Canada sexual assault trial of 5 players, wasn't found credible by the judge. Victims truly have to be perfect in order to be taken seriously. This is just another example of that unfortunate and unfair expectation.

No, what surprised me is the judge said "I have found actual consent" in the 2 videos taken that night in which she said she consented. In one, she's wearing a towel in a room with 5 men & an off-camera voice says "say it". That isn't "actual consent". It looks and sounds more like coercion. It also looks like the players have learned how to weaponize the language of consent and use it against EM.

And the judgement serves to very loudly broadcast that this is a viable strategy to avoid going to jail, too. Just make sure you record her saying ‘it’s ok’ at some point! Because it seems that you don't need consent before if you can convince (cajole, coerce, harass, threaten...) a person to give it to you after, on camera, right? 🤨

In conclusion, burn the whole system to the ground.

Couples *do* tend to look like one another… but it’s not really a good indicator that they’re built to last

Me: posts a video about childfree women being happier, healthier, and wealthier than married women with kids, where I also suggest that a lot of men encourage women to have kids for men’s own selfish reasons (because married men with kids live longer, make more money, etc.)

I didn’t watch Game of Thrones for a few years after ‘Unbowed, Unbent, Unbroken’. (If the title doesn’t ring a bell, it’s the one where Sansa is forced to marry Ramsay, and the ending is stomach-turning in its awfulness.) I did eventually come back in the final season because I wanted to know how it would end.

Has anyone else abandoned a TV show because it was just too upsetting (or enraging) to keep going?
