Woman On The Whale -(to be hung)
There is a particular kind of trust that does not look dramatic.
It does not announce itself.
It does not grip the reins.
It does not need to know the whole route before leaving.
It lifts its arms.
This woman is not riding the whale like something to conquer. She is being carried by it. Willingly. Openly. Hair in every direction, dress catching the sea-coloured light, sitting on the back of something ancient and enormous as if some part of her always knew she belonged there.
The whale does not rush.
It carries its old marks, its great body, its slow intelligence. It has been moving through deep water long before anyone tried to name the current. There is comfort in that. Not certainty, exactly. Something better.
A steadier knowing.
This piece is about the moment a woman stops treating life like a problem she has to manage alone.
She lets herself be carried.
Not passively. Not helplessly. More like someone who has finally remembered that trust is also a form of participation.
The ocean is still large.
The whale is still wild.
The future is still not handing over a tidy little map.
But she is not clenched against it anymore.
She is upright, open, and moving with something deeper than control.
A piece for the woman learning that she does not have to force the current to prove she is safe.
Sometimes the wiser thing is to feel the movement underneath you, lift your arms, and go.
