To all my friends and customers - can I ask you a small favour ?

I have updated my website with all sorts of great info including new pages on talks and books, but apparently it can take up to two weeks for Google to crawl them properly unless there is specific search traffic - will you please go and click some pages and links for me so I can bypass my impatience with Google.

I only need 4 -5 folk to do this. Thanks a ton!!

Woman On The Whale -(to be hung)

There is a particular kind of trust that does not look dramatic.

It does not announce itself.
It does not grip the reins.
It does not need to know the whole route before leaving.

It lifts its arms.

This woman is not riding the whale like something to conquer. She is being carried by it. Willingly. Openly. Hair in every direction, dress catching the sea-coloured light, sitting on the back of something ancient and enormous as if some part of her always knew she belonged there.

The whale does not rush.

It carries its old marks, its great body, its slow intelligence. It has been moving through deep water long before anyone tried to name the current. There is comfort in that. Not certainty, exactly. Something better.

A steadier knowing.

This piece is about the moment a woman stops treating life like a problem she has to manage alone.

She lets herself be carried.

Not passively. Not helplessly. More like someone who has finally remembered that trust is also a form of participation.

The ocean is still large.
The whale is still wild.
The future is still not handing over a tidy little map.

But she is not clenched against it anymore.

She is upright, open, and moving with something deeper than control.

A piece for the woman learning that she does not have to force the current to prove she is safe.

Sometimes the wiser thing is to feel the movement underneath you, lift your arms, and go.

“Fishing boats aren’t graceful. That’s part of the appeal.”

A stubborn red boat riding a big blue wave.

That’s really the whole story.

I’ve always loved the way fishing boats look out on the water — solid, hardworking, weather-beaten, and carrying on regardless.

This piece is hand-built in mixed media with layered paint, visible texture, rough edges, and all the marks that happen when something is actually made by hand.

Not polished. Not delicate.

Just a bright little fishing boat meeting the Atlantic the way fishing boats always have.

This old crow has the look of someone who has outlived several arguments and no longer feels the need to explain himself.

He stands there quietly, slightly suspicious of everyone, but too dignified to make a fuss about it.

The textured wing came from layer after layer of paper and paint — cracked and weathered like driftwood, old walls, salt air, and things left outside too long.

I like crows because they never seem desperate to impress anyone. They know exactly who they are.

Hand-sculpted paper mâché coastal crow.

Solid, strange, and very comfortable in his own company.

Norma just flew in again!

Long legs. Strong stance. Completely herself.

Norma doesn’t pose for anyone., she just arrives exactly as she is.

After a long and fairly dramatic life, she’s showing her years — but her legs are still her best feature and she knows it.

These are part of my ongoing quirky critters — slightly awkward coastal birds with big opinions and no interest in looking polished.

Each one is hand-sculpted in paper mâché, layered, painted, and finished in weathered coastal colours. Lightweight, sturdy, and made to live somewhere visible.

They tend to start conversations without trying to.

He’s already checked it.

He’s checking it again.

Everyone else seems quite confident about what’s going on.

He’s… not there yet.

Not in a dramatic way. Just a quiet, steady
“Let’s have another look at that.”

He’s not slowing things down.

She used to notice who was watching.

Now she doesn’t.

The crows stayed.

They sit on her arms like they belong there—quiet, steady, seeing everything. She doesn’t question them. Doesn’t brush them off. What stays, stays.

Most people would question it. Try to understand it. Make it make sense.

She doesn’t.

At some point, you stop explaining what feels right to you.

You just stand there, steady enough to hold it.

And that’s enough.

There’s a point where something in your life stops fitting.
Not dramatically—just quietly, persistently off.

I wrote something for women in that space.

If that’s you, take it.

He doesn’t rush.

Never really saw the point.

Some days you catch something. Some days you don’t. Either way, you go home the same person.

He’s learnt that.

The boots, the stick, the quiet way he stands—it’s all part of it. No performance. No big story.

Just showing up, doing what needs doing, and letting the rest be.

There’s something about that people recognise.
