Dr. Caligari 1989 ‧ Horror/Sci-fi . The granddaughter of an infamous doctor experiments with hormone and shock therapies at her asylum for the insane.

Avant-garde horror erotic film co-written and directed by Stephen Sayadian and starring Madeleine Reynal, Laura Albert, Gene Zerna, David Parry, Fox Harris and Jennifer Balgobin. It is a quasi-sequel to the 1920 film The Cabinet of Dr. Caligari. The film details a disturbed doctor (the granddaughter of the original Dr. Caligari) and her illegal experiments on her patients.

Originally and briefly billed as Dr. Caligari 3000 when it debuted at select theaters in 1989, the film promptly faded into obscurity. Since it was released on VHS and limited Betamax format, the title has been Dr. Caligari. The film is considered a cult classic and has been shown as a "midnight movie" at various times.

In the film, Dr. Caligari conducts mindswapping experiments on unwilling mental patients, in an attempt to cure them. She succeeds only in transferring certain mental conditions and character traits from one person to others. The main themes explored in these experiments are human cannibalism, ny*******ia, and transvestism.

Unfortunately The 4k restoration is the only version that does the film any justice which I don't think you can find copies of any longer. I would probably trade a body part for a copy.

It's free to watch on archive.org in 720p but it's just not the same experience.

Never bring a goat to a plant monster fight. The Revenge of Doctor X (1970) – NASA scientist has a mental breakdown and turns a Venus Flytrap into a monstrous humanoid while on vacation in Japan to prove his theory that humans evolved from plants

A low-budget, really bad film that has a few good points, including a decent man-sized, walking, mutant plant created by a mad American botanist in Japan.

Danemon's Monster Hunt at Shojoji-1935 Japanese Animation Directed by Kataoka Yosh*tarou. Based on the actual historical figure of Naoyuki Ban (1567-1615), A samurai wanders to a castle that is supposedly haunted. Well, he's a tough guy and laughs at the challenge and enters the place that night. Instead of ghosts, he finds beautiful women and he lets his guard down...not realizing they are magical beings, not women. The place ends up being infested with tanuki, raccoon-like creatures with mystical powers...a staple of many traditional Japanese tales. Does the samurai stand a chance against a host of magical creatures? See the film to find out for yourself. Available to watch on youtube.

“Drawings”: ”Yosh*taro Kataoka, who made some of the earliest efforts in color productions, was also a creator of "manga". Cel animation came relatively late to Japan, due to the high costs of imported celluloid, though its eventual adoption resulted in softer character designs and more fluid movements.
