Unwavering harbingers of hazy summer soundtracks, Halifax indie-rock quintet return, once again, with a track dripping with nostalgic reverence. Listen to "Blip" wherever you find new music 🎶

"Blip" hits an atypical subtle note for Beauts, whose upcoming full-length album Marigolds is set to be released in October 2025. The track developed from a simple instrumental that floated around for years before the right lyrics and melodies eventually clicked. Opening with a sparse vocal and synth pad, "Blip" builds patiently with delicate bass, aching slide guitar, and slow-burning toms, before breaking out into a lightly cathartic crescendo.

The lyrics wistfully recall a variety of settings from youth, from teenage joyrides to trespassing on a train yard. The emotional volatility of coming of age can result in exuberant joy but also an all-encompassing dread. 'Truth' is often however you feel at any given moment, and when you're young and feeling stuck it can seem like incompatible friends and uninspired environments will forever colour your existence.

"Blip" is the latest in a series singles setting the stage for Marigolds, the forthcoming Beauts full-length, which was mixed by Jace Lasek of The Besnard Lakes. The new track follows "Waverley," released last month, and "Fall In Flight," released in May.

2025 Polaris Music Prize longlister unveils "Nothing Can Hurt Me (Euro Mix)" - a new collaborative single with and .

Emerging from the fog-drenched shores of St. John’s, Newfoundland, "Nothing Can Hurt Me" is a lush and haunted meditation on grief, denial, and rebirth—delivered with velvet sonic textures and crushing emotional clarity.

Written by John Moran, the velvety slow jam steeped in ‘80s Yamaha synth nostalgia and kaleidoscopic dread was lifted from the pages of his upcoming EP and handed over to the deft sonic mind of Jake Nicoll, who co-produced and mastered the track while layering in his own vocals. The third creative force in this triangle is Kelly McMichael, whose signature harmonies lend a smoky, supernatural touch.

The release of this new collective-driven track comes on the heels of a momentous season for Kelly McMichael. In addition to her sophomore album, After the Sting of It, earning a spot on the 2025 Polaris Music Prize Long List and marking her second nomination (2021's Waves made the Short List cut), McMichael also toured Eastern Canada and inked a publishing deal with Cymba Music Publishing.

The "Euro Mix" addendum on the new Moran-McMichael-Nicoll song amply helps tee up a series of European tour dates for Kelly McMichael next month, several in support of electropop artist ALLIE X. Following performances in Germany and the Netherlands, McMichael returns to Canada for a series of festival dates and shows in Ontario. All dates are as follows:
