The Symposium on Applying the Ecosystem Approach to Fisheries Management in the ABNJ, organized by NAFO/ICES/FAO, took place last week in Rome, Italy. Participants from across the world met for the three-day event that looked at both the science and management aspects of EAFM.

We are delighted to announce that a memorandum of understanding (MOU) has been signed between the Secretariats of The Sargasso Sea Commission and the Northwest Atlantic Fisheries Commission NAFO. The MOU was adopted at the NAFO 45th Annual Meeting held in Vigo, Spain last September.

The MOU is aimed at closer collaboration between the two organizations, particularly in relation to data collection and data sharing.
