At Under Ocean Records, we stand for human rights, freedom of expression, and fair treatment of artists. These are not marketing slogans, they are our core values.
Because of this, we’ve made the decision to stop supporting and releasing music on Spotify.
Between the rise of fake artists, pay-for-play systems, repeated security breaches, paid ICE advertising, and a continued refusal to fairly compensate the artists who sustain the platform, Spotify has shown itself to be fundamentally misaligned with the future of independent music.
We believe artists deserve transparency, respect, not exploitation masked as access.
Looking ahead to 2026, Under Ocean Records will focus our releases on platforms that better align with these values, including Bandcamp, SoundCloud, Apple Music, TIDAL, Beatport, and others. We’ll also be expanding into physical formats such as USBs, vinyl, and more, supporting ownership over algorithms.
This isn’t a loss, it’s a choice.
And it’s one we’re proud to make.
Thank you for standing with independent artists and ethical music communities.
