Someone sent me this pics ans was worried this could be a very dangerous infection.

Well the first thing ,first is understanding what led to this , this is clearly a sign of cannibalism then next thing is trying to understand what will lead to cannibalism of fish of this size .

Many things can actually lead to this one is space so even though u notice your fishes are growing in a small pond what u may not notice is the variation in their growth sizes while some grow bigger many will not because they lack space to grow then when these small ones injure the big ones when trying to fit in the pond the pond of that injury becomes a point of attack when they are hungry .

Then their is a case of improper feeding you are managing your feed because you belive that feeding your catfish very well will lead to feed wastage, once your catfishes are hungry and dont get feed to eat this is what you will see as a result .

So Inconclusion this injury is caused by cannibalism in the pond due to overstocking and underfeeding .

You may have heard that even if u want to sell your catfish at 3 months that they must eat 4mm feed size or 6mm feed size .

Well this story is not correct , fish feed are designed by animal nutritionist to match a fish growing need for body weight and faster growth for this reason the protein quantity on each feed sizes differs.

Therefore if ur fish is 3 months and eating 3 mm do not rush to give them 6mm because you want to sell your fish .

This is the video of a catfish farmer whose fishes are 8 days old now the many issue here is water contamination, believe it or not with the no of fishes stocked in this space this would continue to happen.

Best solution reduce the no stocked to 50 fishes move others to another pond and these mortality will stop , its not drugs or bitter leaf its simple a principle of stocking density

Well I like his idea of trying to do catfish farming but in this case these fishes will not eat because they will feel caged due to no pond space and low water.

Most catfish farmers dont understand that seeing a catfish on the internet doesn't mean that if u stock same you will make a great sales .

Before rushing to stock clarias or hybrid because you saw a farners harvest make sure to find out from buyers in your area what they buy .

Because if u stock clarias and they prefer hybrid you are already at a loss before sales and if you stock hybrid and they buy clarias you are also at a loss

Don't be in a rush this is pure business and not a bragging child's play

Many people dream of starting catfish farm but one thing they dont consider is spacing for catfish , this rubber here is not ideal for catfish commercial farming if you put 5pcs just for your trail it ok but for commercial this will not work .

Simple reason is this narrow and small ans will not give the fishes space to move around .

If u really want to make it from catfish farming.ing start with something as big as the 1000 liter white tank but remember that tank can only take 50 fishes to 1kg for best results.

Sorting is very key for success in catfish farming, when you sort it helps you achieve same size fishes during sales , which in turn keeps your profit at a better level up .

But if you dont sort try and maintain various feed sizes at appropriate age of the fishes this helps prevent two many under growth in a particular fish set.

However mistakes during sorting can lead to massive deaths of catfish just like the video below , always make sure never to sort in the high hot afternoon sun .
Make sure to keep your fishes in the water during sorting dont expose them to stay without water.
Avoid holding them so.long in hand hand during sorting .
Try as much as possible to keep them in clean water.

All these this help reduce stress on catfish and reduce death rate during and after sorting
