King oyster mushrooms aka trumpet mushrooms are commonly enjoyed in East Asian cuisines but they’re also popular in the vegan community.
As a flavourful mushroom, they give that umami taste 👅 often found in animal protein foods.

THROWBACK THURSDAY- Do we still do those? 😆
That time when a group of dietitians of Asian descent got together to present in 2021 and 2020 at the Food and Nutrition Conference and Expo (FNCE) Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics on Asian cuisine and culturally sensitive recipe development.
This year Dietitians Day falls on March 12 (US) and March 19 (Canada) and I’m uplifting my profession - the intelligent, most credentialed and hardworking nutrition professionals in the US and Canada 💪🏼📚🌟

| Are imported fruits and vegetables to Canada SAFE to eat? This is a paid partnership in collaboration with CropLife Canada.
 .
As a dietitian, my focus is making nutrition inclusive, which means encouraging the celebration of cultural foods. Lots of cultural foods also happen to be imported foods!
Did you know? Pesticide residues for domestic and imported produce are closely monitored by Health Canada. Health Canada’s scientists set Maximum Residue Limits (MRLs) - the highest amount of pesticide residues that may remain on food. The big question is, do I need to worry about pesticide residues on the foods I buy for myself and my family?
I break down the topic of pesticides on imported and homegrown food at my blog: https://michellejaelin.com/are-pesticides-residues-on-foods-harming-your-health/ and linked in profile.
Or comment “residue” and I’ll DM you the link to blog.
