Came across this quite accidentally: Steve Conte fronting Chris Spedding's band (same line-up as playing the Corktown, without SC) at the upcoming show.

Lots of fun rock'n'roll.

In the famous words of The Chantays: "Move it!"

I hate the sound of recordings in which acoustic guitars are recorded using a pickup, through a DI or preamp etc. It sounds very artificial to me, not like an acoustic guitar should sound.

I understand how it's convenient when playing live, but in a recording setting, I've always preferred the sound of an acoustic guitar recorded acoustically, without pickups.

And usually in stereo, although it's not always necessary.

That is all.

Well, folks, all good things come to an end.

After 10 years plus, Downtown Sound Recording Studios will cease operations in its current form and location, effective December 31, 2023.

Thanks to everyone who jammed, rehearsed, recorded, mixed and mastered music at my place. Too many to name, but you know who you are, and I appreciate you entrusting me with your music these past 10 years.

It's been an interesting adventure. I'm fortunate to have met a lot of very cool artists, and developed friendships I value. I'm happy, proud and honored to have made some great records in a variety of genres and media, from thumb-drives to vinyl 45s and LPs.

I'm not done with the Hamilton music scene by any means, but it's time to change things up.

Thanks everybody, and stay tuned for more!
