Wildling Wonders

Wildling Wonders 🌱 We’re starting from zero and building our way to homestead and homeschool life. Wildling Wonders is our first doorway out of the system.

Through nature, story, and hands-on projects, we share the raw climb — the messy, magical journey of growing freedom one step at a time. We’re not here to showcase a finished dream—we’re inviting you to watch us build it from the ground up. We’re starting in a simple backyard and sharing every step as we work toward our own piece of land. Along the way we’ll document how we turn everyday fun into homeschooling adventures, develop side hustles, and weave projects and ideas together to create freedom. Follow our journey as we learn, grow, and prove that you don’t need to start with everything to make a change.

Today Wildling Academy became real. 🌿
What started as an idea for how we wanted our children to learn became three books, 36 weeks of adventures, and more late nights than I'd like to admit. 😂

Today we stopped building it and started living it.

Day One is officially complete.
35 weeks to go.

Learning through wonder. 🌿

It doesn’t always happen at a desk or come from a textbook. Sometimes it happens in the barn with little hands helping, questions being asked and everyone working together.
These everyday chores teach responsibility, confidence, problem-solving and how to care for the animals that depend on us. It may be messier, and it definitely takes a little longer with young helpers, but that’s where some of the best learning happens.
This is real Wildling life: imperfect, hands-on and full of wonder.

Would your kids rather learn at a desk or out in the barn?

They've already found their favorite corner of the barn, side-by-side, just like this. Watching them settle in reminds us why we chose this life. messy, beautiful, and rooted in the small moments.

Welcome home, little ones. You are so loved already.

DIY Mosquito Torch that burns for an HOUR 🔥🌲

Pine cone + pine sap. That's it. Mosquitoes hate it, we love it for harvesting mullein.
Save this for your next camping trip.

What looks like waste can become a project, an experiment, and a lesson.
We turned materials from around the farm into handmade mosquito torches and put them to use outside.
This is what Wildling Wonders is about—real life, nature, making, homesteading and learning through curiosity.

This is what homeschool looks like around here. 🌿

After collecting our mullein, it was time to prepare it for drying — and tonight Londyn learned how to tie it properly and hang it up.

It would have been faster for me to just do it.

But faster isn't really the point.

She tied it. She figured out how to hold everything together. She hung it herself. And now every time she walks past that mullein drying, she'll know she did that.

Earlier we even made little mosquito torches from young pinecones and pine resin so we could work outside without being eaten alive. 😂🦟🔥

One evening.
A few things gathered from the property.
And more than one lesson we never had to sit at a desk for.

This is exactly what I hoped learning at home could become. 💚🌿
