Affordability pressures are front and centre for households and small businesses across Ontario as municipal elections approach.
A Burlington candidate has put forward “The Ontario Municipal Affordability Pledge” — a non-partisan 10-point framework focused on responsible spending, treating every tax dollar carefully, prioritizing core services and infrastructure, demanding value for money, transparency, and ensuring growth pays its fair share.
While candidates and communities will naturally differ on specific interpretations and priorities, the core principles of fiscal discipline, accountability, and protecting existing taxpayers are ones many running for office across municipalities could reasonably find common ground with.
