Police investigate infant death

Hawkesbury OPP are investigating the death of an infant that occurred over the weekend.
Just after 5 a.m., June 17, police and paramedics responded to a call from a home in Hawkesbury about an infant in distress.
The infant, whose age was not disclosed, was taken by ambulance to the hospital but was pronounced dead a short time later.
A post-mortem examination of the body is scheduled for later this week in Ottawa.
The Hawkesbury OPP Crime Unit continues its investigation of the incident in partnership with the Ontario Forensic Pathology Service and the Office of the Chief Coroner for Ontario.
No further details of the case are available at present as the investigation is in the early stage.
