Final Day in Belfast for the Economic Minister's Canadian Advisory Council.

We started with a tour of Stormont (the seat of the Northern Ireland Assembly and Executive) and a meeting with Edwin Poots MLA, the current Speaker of the Northern Ireland Assembly.

Then off to Artemis Technologies, the leading a green shipbuilder - designing and manufacturing 100% electric, high-speed foiling vessels...where some of the team tried out the simulator!

Opening the festival is Báite (the Drowned) - an Irish Language "Celtic noir" by Ruán Magan.

Staring Eleanor O'Brien and Moe Dunford - A woman's body is found under the waters of a lake in the countryside, and the arrival of a Detective from Dublin is the last thing Peggy, the owner of Casey's House, needs as she tries to save her business and her family.

Excited to be welcoming Fred Eaglesmith to the Regent Theatre Picton this weekend!

Eaglesmith, the Canadian singer-songwriter and roots music icon, has spent over five decades crafting 25 albums and carving out a singular path in the music world. Known for his raw, storytelling lyrics, gravelly voice, and unapologetic independence, Eaglesmith has become a cult hero to fans of Americana, folk, and country music. Born in rural Ontario in 1957, he ran away from home at 15, hopping freight trains and living a nomadic life that would later fuel the vivid, working-class narratives in his songs.

I'm honoured to be a member of Northern Ireland's Minster of the Economy's Canadian Advisory Council. Launched in September 2024 through Invest Northern Ireland with the aim to strengthen economic ties, supporting Canadian investors in Northern Ireland and assisting NI companies with Canadian market expansion. My role focuses on the screen based and creative industries.

We met recently to prepare for a trade mission to Northern Ireland in April. The Invest NI Team headed by Michael Barton and Ciara McKinney is busy organizing a packed schedule!
